Watching the EVO Semis and Finals was a blast. So many good matches over and over.

It was awesome. Almost went down to the absolute last match. J.Wong played a basic Balrog and almost almost beat Daigo. The first best of five came down to the fucking wire.

I most enjoyed watching this guy Juicebox's Abel. He got fucked up easily later by a good Dhalsim, but fucking destroyed some guys. Most impressive Abel I've seen.

No Sagats or Seths in the Final 8 either. Three people playing Akumas though I believe.

Akumas life bar is such a hinderance he's actually well balanced for the first time ever in a SF game.

I honestly probably wont be able to finish out the whole bracket. My TV has to be packed up within the week, and I won't be able to unpack it I imagine for at least a few weeks. Moving into a new place and going out of town for training will makes things pretty impossible.

Blitz defeats G 4-3.

Round 1: Cammy/Sakura: I got perfected 2nd round but did fine otherwise. 3-1. This sorta set the tone for our series, as I continuously jumped/Spiral Arrowed into Ultras/supers.

Round 2: Cammy/Ken: Spiral arrow into supers means 3-1 Ken.

Round 3: Ken/Akuma: Usually I can avoid the Raging Demon no prob, but not here. 3-0 Akuma.

Round 4: Ryu/Akuma: Played much more disciplined. Avoided the Demon and took it 3-0.

Round 5: Ryu/Ryu: Hadouken fest on both sides. We traded rounds but I succumbed to another Ultra in the final round.

Round 6: Ken/ Fei Long: Not much to say here, I won 3-0

Round 7: Fei Long/Zangief: Fei's quickness was too much for 'Gief. Lost the first round but otherwise dominated with jump ins and Shienkyakus.



Good fights. I feel like we're pretty well matched.

I lost to Super V 4-2. Had a d/c in match 3 that we ended up playing over because my CAT5 popped out of my 360 since its currently taped on. I was close on a number of matches, and am very proud of my play. Especially a few timely Ultras that he left open. And he taped the matches so you'll get to pick me and him apart.

Let me see if I can remember enough to recap

Match 1: Balrog v. Rufus

I was handled pretty easily in this one. Trying to get me with Dive Kick crossups that I was blocking pretty well, but I just didn't have much of an answer. Remember I called an early Ultra in hopes the chip would be close enough to finish him but I estimated incorrectly.

Match 2: Bison v. Abel

Probably my best match. After some initial struggle I found that he didn't have much of an answer for me punishing him with normals.

Match 3: Guile v. Dan

He was up 2-0 at the d/c, but insisted that we start from the beginning because shit happens. I won a few close ones that I probably shouldn't have and ended up winning 3-2 if I remember correctly. I'm pretty scared of his Dan after playing it numerous times.

Match 4: Cammy v. Zangief

I threw Cammy out there just so I didn't get stuck in game 7 with her. I actually managed to play her really terrible and give him a run for his money. Constant Spike misses resulted in many a powerbomb, however. Basically just did jump-ins with the occasional Spike anti-air. Just made too many mistakes to be able to win.

Match 5: Guile v. Rufus

Decimation. He was warmed up with Rufus at this point, and I couldn't remember Guile's anti-air normal. Can't remember much else.

Match 6: Bison v. Balrog

I played him close, but if he got damage on me he got it good. He perfected me one match, but I pulled a perfect Ultra that I was baiting him into one round. Will look forward to seeing that on video. Might have been able to pull this one out on another day.

I hit a good Ultra in the Dan match too that I just remembered. I always feel impressive pulling Guile's or Vega's with perfect timing. I feel like most people don't expect Guile players to use the Ultra that much since it isn't exactly amazing or anything.

After the Guile vs. Dan match I was pretty worried you were gonna take the series. I don't fight too many good Guile players. Pretty good recap. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Minus that ridiculous Youtube Guile combo video I haven't seen many good ones either. I have to say once I can effectively use his air grab and get a few good combos, I will enjoy playing him a lot.

Balrog needs plenty of work...I just can't pull things when I want to. In our first match I caught you with a Buffalo that was an obvious setup for Ultra, but I just haven't been able to pull in off in practice correctly. It would have won me the match, if I remember.

- Higher seed fights on the RIGHT side of the screen. (Meaning, if you are the lower seed, you must create the lobby and send the invite to your opponent. Example: #16 is on the left, #1 is on the right)

- Time Limit: 99, Rounds: 5

- Best of 7

- 4 character minimum OR you can only use the same character twice. However you want to describe it.

TIPS:

- Clean up your connection. Do what you can, at least. Stop downloading porn/movies/whatever. Tell your MOM to get off the computer, you're playing in a fighting video game tournament for an internet wrestling message board. I think the only one who had an iffy connection anyway was Drakul and I think it's because he lives in wherever he lives. We shouldn't have too much of a problem connecting to each other. I don't think.

- Bust out the legal pad and crayon. The only way we can get your results is by your first hand account. So after a match, try to do your best to dramatically recreate what just happened. Don't concentrate so hard on your summary that it distracts you from the game, but a little effort would be appreciated. Sure you could say "I lost 4-2" and be done with it, but a little drama would be appreciated. It also helps to keep track of who you used, who they used and what happened.

- Take a break between matches. Like 2-6 minutes or so. Take a breather.

Just played G, 2 minutes ago... and got my ass kicked. His style is weird as shit. Like he has good zoning and has mastered the cross up and and will trap you if you are not careful, but if you're pressuring him you can see him go for a move but mess up the input and his combos are still on the simpler side and it's easy to chain a bunch of hits together if he gives you an opening.\

Thought I had that last match, but I got caught in the cross up trap from hell and went from half a bar to dead while he only needed one hit.

CHOOooOOOOKE. If I had just finished him up in this match I would have taken it and won. I missed so many focus dashes. I believe he went up 2-0 and then gave me 2 pity round wins. An odd one indeed. I felt as though I won on a match my match basis, but counting rounds makes it a tough call. You were sharp with Akuma, and I may have lost a straight battle.

Yeah, I was picked apart, This would have been 3-1 if it wasn't for a lucky ultra from me. Last round went down to the last slither of both our life but thecc deserved this

After that, I thought I would go back to Akuma so I could finish with a walk in the park. WRONG! thecc was clearly used to my Akuma by this point. First round I demolished him... for the first half, even had him dizzied in the corner and he still came back to take it. Right, so it finally happened. Big surprise, I got stomped on. Here's a brief recap:

1. Akuma (me) vs Vega (Kalyx) 0 - 3

Match was mad laggy thanks to my brother running 54643578 torrents. Thought I did ok in the first round until Kalyx decided shit was boring and it was time to speed it up. Basically swept me. Also, wtf Capcom, Vega having an airthrow? He has enough moves god damnit.

2. Sagat vs Vega: 0 - 3

Lately (and by lately, I mean since July) I have not been able to get it done with Sagat like Used to. Horribly mistimed everything and got destroyed.

3. Balrog vs Sakura 1 - 3

Yay, no more Vega. Aw, crap it's Sakura. After months of Kalyx going on about my Sakura this and my Sakura that I got to taste it. And does not taste good. He literally shut me down entirely with low weak punches the entire first round. Found a way around it and managed to win my first round of the tourney only, to have him ex shouken, juggle and ultra me to death. It's starting to look real bleak here.

4. Blanka vs Sakura 3 - 1

Uh oh, I've found Kalyx's one character he has "trouble" with... First round goes to me, but only because he's never seen my Blanka before. A nice mix of in your face and tentative, if I do say so myself. Kept getting caught in the god damn focus attack trap this match especially. KALYX COMES BACK AND TAKES TAKES THE NEXT ROUND, I'M LIKE NOOOO, MY SWEEP, MY GLORIOUS SWEEP. Nah, jk I'm actually surprised I took this, because those last 2 rounds were hard fought. Seriously. Round for was a next hit wins deal, and I busted out the best attack of my life and actually made him panic for all of 2 seconds.

5. Bison vs Ken: 0 - 3

This was actually more even than I thought it would be. Lots of back and forth, with me dropping the ball at the end of each round. Fucking hell. At one point in the second round, I was literally owning Kalyx to the point where I had half a bar and he had 1 hit to go. I go in for the kill, and he times the most perfect ultra ever and finishes it right then and there.

Overall, I'd say I'd have done better and probably could have made it 7 matches if:

1. I'd practiced. I'd only played 1 time briefly since fighting G. Damn you, BlazBlue, Prototype and Shadow Complex.

2. I'd fucking taken Ken and Blanka instead ofAkuma and Sagat.

3. I'd settled the fuck down a little more and managed to time throw escapes better. Although lol @ me just casually waking up to Sakura from across the screen with Blanka and just throwing her that 1 time.

Gonna be honest, it would have been an ass beating. Me beating you, in case you were wondering. Being that we're at the end game let me explain:

Has the tournament came up all of us were pretty much done with SF4, moving on to other fighters and games. Then as it became real, many of you took to personal sessions - testing each other's skill and training.

I had next to no training, personal sessions, or any real rust-be-gone measures taken. I didn't even think of the game outside of my listed matches. I was waist deep in Blazblue as the tourny picked up.

I had fun, but competitively speaking most of you simply weren't ready for me rusty. RoXer was the only guy who nearly made me pay for being so whatever about training - add to that his general improvement. He probably would have beat if not for technical issues!

None of you guys really professed to be high level players, so it's all in good fun. But I promise you, Super V, there's a mighty fine chance you would have not "messed me up". You posted vids, I seen your gameplay, you're above average but you're not Apartment 25 material, son.

So yeah, I'm playing the bad guy right about now.

- Best of 7

- 4 character minimum OR you can only use the same character twice. However you want to describe it.

TIPS:

- Clean up your connection. Do what you can, at least. Stop downloading porn/movies/whatever. Tell your MOM to get off the computer, you're playing in a fighting video game tournament for an internet wrestling message board. I think the only one who had an iffy connection anyway was Drakul and I think it's because he lives in wherever he lives. We shouldn't have too much of a problem connecting to each other. I don't think.

- Bust out the legal pad and crayon. The only way we can get your results is by your first hand account. So after a match, try to do your best to dramatically recreate what just happened. Don't concentrate so hard on your summary that it distracts you from the game, but a little effort would be appreciated. Sure you could say "I lost 4-2" and be done with it, but a little drama would be appreciated. It also helps to keep track of who you used, who they used and what happened.

- Take a break between matches. Like 2-6 minutes or so. Take a breather.

Has the tournament came up all of us were pretty much done with SF4, moving on to other fighters and games. Then as it became real, many of you took to personal sessions - testing each other's skill and training.

I had next to no training, personal sessions, or any real rust-be-gone measures taken. I didn't even think of the game outside of my listed matches. I was waist deep in Blazblue as the tourny picked up.

I had fun, but competitively speaking most of you simply weren't ready for me rusty. RoXer was the only guy who nearly made me pay for being so whatever about training - add to that his general improvement. He probably would have beat if not for technical issues!

None of you guys really professed to be high level players, so it's all in good fun. But I promise you, Super V, there's a mighty fine chance you would have not "messed me up". You posted vids, I seen your gameplay, you're above average but you're not Apartment 25 material, son.

So yeah, I'm playing the bad guy right about now.

Match 2: Akuma vs. Vega Some real bullshit. Not really. I don't know why I'd try to shoryuken every time I'd get knocked down. I wasn't really thinking I guess. I fell for some real amateur shit. BUT THEN AT THE END I clearly ultrad him but he is to backflip out of it. Whatever. 0-3

Match 3: Guile vs. Cammy 1-3 Almost went another round but missed a final grab. I know Kalyx was shitting his pants too I know he saw it.

This match was good, and my Ken was unusually fired up for this one. Definitely worth recording. The last round was... a mugging. I don't know if RoXy lost his cool or what. Otherwise good fight overall.

Yeah I saw the missed grab. I missed a grab myself so there you go. Today was not a good day for my Cammy so I figured you'd take this one. I peep how you cut down on jumping at me. Good man. But now you know my secret: My toe-to-toe ground game is even greater than my anti-air defense! (Sorry... anime moment)

Match 4: Akuma vs. Vega 2-3 Whatever fuck this game

Funny thing is, you learned up from the last battle. You were punishing my backflips with throws and watching my air attacks. However, I imagined you would get wise and approached the fight differently at the start. Once you were trained to this altered offense, I switched back to classic shit. To my surprise you still kept even. I'm almost ashamed to say I took it with a random Bloody Highclaw Ultra. I'd chalk this up to Akuma's hilariously low stamina.

Good matches, but a decisive series. Great tourny, took a few months but we did it. Super Street Fighter 4 should really shake things up. Now for that MvC2 competition...
