I honestly don't know how well it will translate to screen. There's only two characters in the book and not that much dialogue.

The Invention of Lying - "A comedy set in a world where no one has ever lied, until a writer seizes the opportunity for personal gain." Looks like it could go either way, but the cast is phenomenal: Ricky Gervais, Jennifer Garner, Jonah Hill, Rob Lowe, Tina Fey, Jeffrey Tambor, Christopher Guest, Jason Bateman, Patrick Stewart

Now I'm not a big movie guy but those three movies you showed trailers for look really good. Especially Shutter Island.
Though I just can't stand Rick Gervais. Everything about him just pisses me off in a way. If the role in The Invention of Lying was played by someone else, in my opinion, it would be a much better film. But I think just this once, I'm going to look past Gervais and go see the film anyway.

I think Gervais is a pretty solid choice. I loved him in the Office and in Extras. I'm just glad Will Ferrell isn't in this.
In the Loop is supposed the be brilliant, it was written by Armando Iannucci so I'd say that's likely to be accurate:y:

Zombieland - Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) has made a habit of running from what scares him. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) doesn't have fears. If he did, he'd kick their ever-living ass. In a world overrun by zombies, these two are perfectly evolved survivors. But now, theyre about to stare down the most terrifying prospect of all: each other.

Some movies have been announced for the approaching festival season, my interest lies more in the talent involved than the actual stories themselves.
Enter the Void - New Gaspar Noe film.
Life During Wartime - Todd Solondz
Broken Embraces - Pedro Almodovar
Leaves of Grass. An Ivy League professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a scheme to take down a local drug lord. Edward Norton plays both twins.

I had to watch Broken Embraces for like 3 different classes a few years after this post... just saw the new "Almodovar" a couple days ago "the room next door"
"Extract" is kinda funny
Big Fan was good I think... where he follows his favorite nfl player into the ghetto. Yea

A Serious Man - One of the Ceons most underrated. Really really good flick
Antichrist - great body horror flick. Probably my favorite Lars Von Trier movie. At least top 3.
Bruno - completely unrewatchable but i pissed myself laughing the first time i saw it
Funny People - the beginning of the fall in Judd Apatow for me. Also its why Sandler wasnt in Inglorious Basterds and that always bums me out
Inglorious Basterds - my favorite Tarantino picture. One of my very favorite films.
Shutter Island - fine. Neither dicaprios nor Scorseses best.
Up- 2nd favorite pixar film only behind WallE.
(500) days of summer- really sweet film. I like it a ton. The female lead is lovely
Zombieland - the sequel is rubbish but the first one is a really fun outing. I love zombie films and at this time a zombie comedy was a real novel idea.
Final destination 4- the worst in the series. By a lot.

QT stopped making great films a long long time ago and nobody noticed because the dialogue was still so obviously Tarantino, the cast always covered for the set pieces and the set pieces were just ludicrous enough to completely distract folk from the gaping plot holes and lack of sense.
Every time a critic savages a comedy film I think "You can apply that logic to everything Tarantino did after Jackie Brown" and yet he gets away with it time and time again because people prefer spectacle to sensible and there's a bizarre belief in Hollywood critics that doing anything to get an excited reaction is more honourable than doing anything to get a laugh.
I could only hate him more if he was somehow giving everybody cancer too, and I wouldn't put it past him.
Oh and "Funny People" is a much better film than "Inglourious Basterds".
"Funny People" is like being disappointed in a friend for relapsing straight after rehab whereas "Inglourious Basterds" is more like watching your friend steal money from you to spend on OnlyFans subscriptions and hearing "No you signed up for that yourself" when confronted.
