What began as a show that borrowed many elements from its British counterpart, the American Office has grown into the Juggernaut of must-see Thursday in its own right. So who do you think is the best character in Scranton (or New York, possibly)?

Bonus questions: Which is the better series? Have you ever made up lyrics to the Office theme song? How many more seasons do you think The Office will go?

Don't watch it much but I've always heard the original british version is far superior to the american version

Best Character (US): Jim. Dwight is the funniest, but seems to be turning into more of a caricature as of late. Jim is consistently the most real character.
Worst Character (US): Kelly. She seems to get more air-time than the other side characters and she's only okay.

Best Character (UK): David Brent
Worst Character (UK): It's hard to pick out a notably bad character because this show was kept so short and written so well.

Bonus questions: Which is the better series? Have you ever made up lyrics to the Office theme song? How many more seasons do you think The Office will go?

As of now, I think the UK Office is the better series. Obviously television is done in two different ways in America and in the UK. We have the "let it run until ratings decline" approach". UK Office had the "we have a definite ending in mind" approach. I think that's better for the series overall. You're going to tell the story that you set out to tell, it's going to be consistent, you're not going to be introducing hit-or-miss characters during sweeps week, etc. That's not to say I don't appreciate what the American Office has done and how they've taken some chances and run with the ball (especially after learning from the American Coupling disaster). But it's inevitable that after five seasons you're going to have lulls.

I have made up lyrics to the Office theme. Don't remember them.

I think Season 7 should be the final season. It gives them a chance to wrap up the pregnancy and get Michael married to someone. After that they would just be introducing alien abduction/dream sequences.

(Watched like a season of the US version so I don't know it well enough to comment on characters)

Best Character: Gareth Keenan/David Brent/Chris Finch
Worst Character: As theddy said, it's hard to pick a character. They all add something. Maybe Rachel from Season 2

The UK version is definitely the better version. This isn't to say the American one wasn't suprisingly good but it doesn't come close.

Lyrics to the theme:

Ever seen a blind man cross the road
trying to make the other side
Ever seen a young girl growing old
trying to make herself a bride
So what becomes of you my love
When they have finally stripped you of
The handbags and the gladrags
that your poor old Granddad had to sweat to buy you

Once I was a young man
and all I thought I had to do was smile
Well you are still a young girl
and you bought everything in style

But once you think you're in you're out
'cause you don't mean a single thing without
the handbags and the gladrags
that your poor old Granddad had to sweat to buy you

Sing a song of six-pence for your sake
And drink a bottle full of rye
Four and twenty blackbirds in a cake
And bake them all in a pie

They told me you missed school today
So what I suggest you just throw them all away
the handbags and the gladrags
that your poor old Granddad had to sweat to buy

They told me you missed school today
So what I suggest is you just throw them all away
the handbags and the gladrags
that your poor old Granddad had to sweat to buy you

And I guess the US Office should keep going as long as it is funny

Worst Character (UK): Chris Finch

You done lost yo mind foo

Not too familiar with the UK one, seen like two episodes a long time ago. So I won't comment on that whole bit.

Best Character US: Andy Bernard
Worst Character US: Kelly. Was funnier before she got a personality.

UK:
Best: Easily David Brent
Worst: Tim, he just annoyed me.

US:
Best: Dwight
Worst: Kevin - he just annoys me

I was once a US Office hater, but I tell you what, I fuckin love it now, really really like it. Creed is prob my second fave character, but Dwight is simply the best.

Become mildly obsessed with this show. Still not a patch on the UK version but it's a lot of fun.
