Michael and Michael Have Issues

Did anyone watch it? I know there are a few Stella fans on here.

I'm a huge fan of Stella, so I had been waiting for it for a while.

I thought it was good. It had its moments. It was a bit dissapointing, in the sense that it was watered down. They've always had some goofy humor, which they balance well, but some of this was obviously tailored for a different, broader audience.

There were also moments of their trademark wit. I think their humor is brilliant in Stella and Wet Hot American Summer, but obviously it was over some people's heads. They've definitely taken it back a notch so that they don't get cancelled again.
If that's what it takes to stay on the air, then so be it. There are definitely moments of brilliance sprinkled throughout where you can see their real style showing through.

I guess it's just a sad state of affairs that in a lot of cases, artists have to water down their product to keep working

I liked it but pretty much agree with everything you said.

I am glad it wasn't just sketches though and they had a story arc through the whole episode.

I went to the live taping of the pilot and it was pretty shitty so my expectations were kinda low because it was just them in the studio talking and introducing sketches like Chappelle's Show or something. Actual show made me "LOL" a lot though.

Hope they don't get canceled but probably will anyway. :'(

I can't even really remember what else was making me laugh, but there was a few things. I always do that...

I got a good 5 or 6 laughs. That's good by any standards, but I guess I was just expecting to see more Stella.

I bet they'll start bringing on guest stars soon. I give it 3 weeks until Wain, Rudd, Truglio, AD Miles, or all of the above show up.

After The State ended, Black, Showalter, and Wain decided to join together and form a stand-up comedy troupe. The group originally performed under the name Midnight Expressions. They changed the name to Stella when they got their first gig at the New York City nightclub, Fez, because the manager who hired them was pregnant at the time, and Stella was to be the name of her daughter.

lol I liked it. :(

It is definitely definitely going to get canceled though. People don't find them funny for some reason. When they were on Jimmy Fallon a few nights ago, everyone just seemed real confused while they were doing their "schtick".

They are also def missing David Wain's midas touch.

That skit with the king was horrible. :o :'(

All the narrative stuff was still mad good to me though. :mad:
