Right click the taskbar --> Toolbars --> Quick Launch
Is that what you want?
Right click the taskbar --> Toolbars --> <s>Quick Launch</s> New Toolbar...
Think THAT might be what he's after.

I want the one by the start menu..
So a Quick Launch icon on your toolbar?
Just drag and drop the program onto the tool bar.

I just want to have a firefox quick launch icon by the start menu.. I know I've used XP comps with that..
However you currently start Firefox - it may be an icon on your desktop or an .exe file in Explorer - whichever way you currently open Firefox, simply drag and drop THAT onto the toolbar next to the start menu - that will create your quick launch icon.

Nah, tried that already..
Is the taskbar 'locked'?
Check by right clicking on the taskbar and make sure 'lock the taskbar' doesn't have a check mark.

It was but it still didn't work.. There is a little line by the start menu, that when hovered over looks like it would open up but doesn't.. When I drag and drop a black "no" symbol (circle with a line through it) pops up over the firefox icon..

Did you try my suggestion yet?
Because if I try to drag an icon into the taskbar without enabling the quick launch, I get what you get.

Yeah that worked.. For some reason (weed) I tried right click the taskbar --> Toolbars --> New Tool Bar instead of Quick Launch..
Thanks, gents..
