View Full Version : How to save WWE or at least make it watchable

First, bring back respect to the titles. What's the prestige of being women's champ, tag champ, or ECW champ if you only defend it every 3rd PPV? Remember the old days of wrestling when the only time you got to see the heavyweight champ wrestle was on the PPV? Now, by the time it gets to PPV, you've already seen the champ and challenger wrestle each other 3 or 4 times.
Second, bring back legitimate tag team wrestling and pick a brand to put it on exclusively (ECW or Smackdown). Put Haas and Benjamin back and keep em back, the Colons, the Hart Foundation hell maybe even bring the Briscos over... no more random ass combos. Good tag team wrestling with teams that make sense make for compelling t.v.
Unify the women's titles and make the division exclusive to a brand (Raw). TNA's women's division is twice as good as WWE's ever was because they have actual wrestlers and some of them are hot too. Holy shit Vince said that was impossible. Stop putting Melina, Gail Kim, Mickey James, Maryse, Beth Phoenix etc.. into shitty matches with Kelly Kelly,Layla, and Maria. Spread Kelly Kelly and company into the various brands to be what they should be, valets and eye candy. They have no business wrestling.
And oh yeah, stop giving new talent pornstar names.
Finally, bring back managers as mouthpieces. Dibiase on the mic did more for Rhodes and his son in five minutes than they have their entire careers on the mic. Bring back a couple legends like Ted to talk for the guys with no charisma. Abraham Washington would be good too. Any thoughts or additions?

Well roach21, I am Vince McMahon. I have read all of your ideas, and they are all great. We will adapt this model starting on next week's SmackDOWN! taping.

Well Anybody Thrilla, I actually did send those ideas to Vince and all he gave me was Pretty Ricky skits and Tommy Dreamer in a form fitting blazer and tight dress pants.

Your ideas are the same as mine, I would really love to see WWE unify the Intercontinental Title and the US Title as well, and keep it on RAW. Put the Tag Team Championship on Smackdown!. IT would be great to only have one Womens/Diva's Champion but they need them on both shows it seems. My wish would be to have a Cruiserweight, Tag Team, and World Title on Smackdown!, and on Raw have WWE Heavyweight, Intercontinental, and Women's. That way they could really hype the two titles in an important way, and give time to the backstage antics Raw has, without jewing wrestlers out of time.
The same way to make TNA watchable: Fire Vince.

There is only one thing the wwe needs....bring back the hardcore title!!! making the champ defend it 24/7 on all 3 shows would be something to see.

How to make WWE more watchable....
Wait, so you are already watching now? And chances are you have been watching it for a while
Have become semi-obsessive and joined a wrestling forum to discuss how you think these things would improve, eg, a fan boy (which I know I am)
Yet, you will still watch in a vain hope that the show will go in a direction that you think it should be?
Yeah, sounds like the WWE are doing a lousy job of making it more watchable for you.
--
I love it when we all feel that this or that could save the WWE and we all feel we could do a better job if we made decisions, it's like moaning about your local sports team that you support blaming individual players of the manager for the lousy form they are showing. Yet, you still support them and watch them.
like it or not, with wrestling, the WWE for most of us are our team (as are several other promotions, most of us are whores in that respect) and when watching your team there tends to be 2 camps, those who complain about no matter what, and those who accept it no matter what.
Personally, even though I think a few tweaks would be good, I just watch it and enjoy it for what's it's worth and enjoy it as a TV show which takes up a few hours of the week for me without alot of emotional investment.
Also, I love how people think a multi million corperation needs saving

It's really funny when you look at the rosters, though. Given the talent on RAW, they could have put on shows somewhat comparable to SmackDown! if they had a writer who was aiming for such things. I mean, I often picture how I'd like the week of wrestling to entertain me, and four matches I had envisioned for RAW:
* The Brian Kendrick vs. Evan Bourne in the opener. When was the last time RAW kicked off with actual wrestling? Evan Bourne is over with the fans, and he could have kept them interested when he came out. The Brian Kendrick is such a whiny snot, that the fans could really connect to him as a guy they want to see get beat-up. Kendrick and Bourne could have had a great showing to kick-off RAW, with Bourne going over despite his injuries at the hands of Big Show, which keeps the down momentum on Kendrick, but also makes Bourne look good.
* Chris Jericho and MVP as the first-hour main event. This could have just been a random match, and the quality would have been amazing. MVP and Jericho alone could have made RAW worth watching that week, and MVP could have even picked up a disqualification victory when Jack Swagger runs in and beats him down. Have a knowing exchange between Jericho and Swagger, and perhaps tease Swagger as Jericho's new partner.
* Chavo Guerrero facing Primo in a match set-up because Chavo wants a bigger opponent than Hornswoggle. Primo and Chavo would blend their styles nicely together, and could have an exciting little match. Chavo's no Eddie when it comes to heat, but he is over, and Primo is approaching a real connection with the crowds. Hornswoggle could have popped out from under the ring during the match, distracted Chavo, and allowed Primo a solid victory.
* In the main event, instead of that Handicap Match bullshit, have Mark Henry serve as Triple H & John Cena's partner. Henry is getting over, and he has heat with Legacy. Why not capitalise on that, and have Henry team with the mega-faces to close the show?
It seems what RAW does with its talent, is spin its wheels. The characters never really develop, and what we get one week is either the exact same as the following week, or it is forgotten.

It looks like you've gone to a lot of trouble here, and I can appreciate that, but there is already a pretty serious two page discussion going on about legitimate ways the WWE can improve going on in this thread:

The points you make have been made loads over the years, roach21, and you're new - thus the negative reactions.
You're spot on with everything you say though mate, but again, like everyone says, without serious competition (and HHH/Cena), it's hard to see things getting all that much better.
