This is simply an agree or disagree topic. I have wondered throughtout the years why the WWE continues to bring out new shows. I mean you have Raw and Smackdown which are the flagship shows then you have ECW which has the potential to be a really good show(only if they air it an hour earlier and make the show last for 2 hrs). Then you have Superstars. I look back and wonder at the success of these 1 hour long shows.

Sunday Night Heat was real good when it first started. All the main guys would compete. Sometimes there would be specials like the "halftime" heat. But slowly it just became a show for the jobbers to compete and was kind of a background story show for PPV matches. Heat kinda of died out after the raw/smackdown brand split. Heat bcame the property of Raw and I think Smackdown had a show called Velocity to compete with it. Well they are both gone. Also wasn't there a show called Shotgun Saturday Night?

That being said I think Superstars is great now but I believe it is destined to meet the SNH/Velocity fate. It's cool that they are doing the new superstar initiative on ECW but they need to do more to really kick it. TNA has huge success with just Impact.

Superstars has great matches with people who may have been left off other shows. Seems harmless enough to me.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to agree or disagree with, here.

Superstars is just a placeholder for when MNTV goes bellyup and they need a network to air Smackdown, and Im totally rooting for that to happen because I cant get MNTV.

I think that the additional shows of ECW and Superstars are good for the WWE in today's wrestling world...

First, they need to develop new stars, so instead of having them work in front of 400 people in FCW or OVW before, they can bring them up to ECW and have them work in front of 12,000 people and a national auidence without them feeling the pressure to perform on a live RAW. This gives them a chance to learn and make mistakes without getting blasted.

Second, the WWE is down ratings wise so they need to keep turning out big matches and fueds featuring big stars to draw ratings, but at the same time they need to prepare for the future and give tv time to the future stars, these additional shows allow for this.

Just to answer that question I have been watching for about 20 years.

I just wanted to clarify on the TNA success. I have watched it from the beginning and have seen it grow into a decent organization. though I do have to say it has kinda withered down. I think the writing hurts it most. all that young talent taking a back seat to the over the hill guys(Nash, Sting, etc).

well going from nothing to wwe's main competitor in just 7 years is pretty impressive, also almost beating smackdown in the ratings.

Indeed. Back in high school I did the report for Shotgun Saturday Night for Lords Of Pain for a few weeks, until it wasn't fun anymore.

What about The Undertaker tombstoning Triple H at the top of an escalator, and Triple H being carried all the way to the bottom of it while knocked out?
