View Full Version : Too much expectation from the SummerSlam ppv
Last year's SummerSlam was awesome! MVP pinning Jeff with that iPod kick, Santino & Beth winning the Women's & IC titles, Punk pinning Bradshaw to retain the World title, Batista injuring Cena and the amazing HIAC match between Edge and Taker. By God what a show it was.
Hope they don't disappoint this time. :(
Kane/Khali, Cena/Orton, Legacy/DX.
Yeah.

I actually had high hopes for SummerSlam until I read that, Xero. :(
How many times have they done Cena versus Orton?

Possibly more times than Batista has used his cheat code?

We've seen Cena vs Orton, 8 times.
Seriously.
Though there has been loads more matches with Cena vs Orton but it's also included another person (Most probably Triple H) or it's been a Tag Team Match with Cena & Partner against Orton & Partner.
But just Cena vs Orton in a Singles Match....
8 times.
I remember when Cena vs Orton was being built to be a great Mania first-run match.
Then they blew it on RAW or some shit.

I still think the most interesting thing they could do with Cena and Orton right now, is to pair them up together. Cena and Orton as Vince McMahon's "money machines" would make me half-care about them.
The RAW main event scene is so shit right now.
Hopefully Smackdown gets the main event at Summerslam and we see Hardy vs. Punk in a ladder match or something cool.

At least a lot of the SmackDown! side is likely to deliver at Summerslam. We may not get Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison in a TLC Match, but this storyline with Punk and Hardy will lead to them clashing over the World Title again, and you know that will be good now that Punk is a full-on heel.
And if Hardy is leaving, Punk not only gets to take the title off him but also run him out of the company. Even bigger heat for Punk.

That's exactly it. Plus, while I do prefer quality to quantity, CM Punk will be a three-time World Heavyweight Champion at the end of it, which is good for him.
To be fair, I think the only reason Hardy was given the World Title was a) as a bargaining chip to try and get him to re-sign ("see, Jeff, we WILL trust you to be the World Champion") and b) to trigger the heel turn of Punk in full-swing.

I dunno how much to expect out of SummerSlam. I mean, I already thought of it as like the 4th biggest pay-per-view of the year, behind obviously WrestleMania, the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series...I just wish they wouldn't be trying so damn hard to push it as an even bigger, more-like-WrestleMania style pay-per-view. Yeah, I guess the 7-Eleven promos and tie-ins sort of make sense, but the other shit, like the "SummerSlam Reading Jam" or whatever they call it, and adding an Axxess main event for the weekend or the whole week or whatever, just to try and attract more fans so they can get bigger gates (I can understand wanting to be able to pay all the stars a bit more, but still) makes me go :wtf:.
Those last couple of reasons for pushing this pay-per-view, at least to me, seem like a little bit of overkill. Anyone else have any of these thoughts?

If they waste HBK's return on another DX reunion, and it doesn't lead to HBK turning heel on Triple H...I will be highly disappointed.

To be fair it was the Eddie Guerrero tribute night and it ended in a no contest.

I prefer the royal rumble to summerslam but I think sumerslam is supposed to be the second biggest PPV of the year...

I haven't cared about HBK's return since he left. Because when he comes back, instead of Cena, Orton and HHH, it'll be Cena, Orton, HH and HBK. And nothing will be different, and it will still be boring.

Does HHH still want to turn heel?
Although HHH/HBK has been done to death, it'd actually be quite a refreshing change to see them two go at it again. HHH turning on HBK after they beat Legacy or something.
Although rumour has it they're meant to face off at WrestleMania, so doubt their feud would start now?

Not just any Raw, I believe it was the Eddie Guerrero tribute show. Still blown on Raw none-the-less.
