INTERWEBS- I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

A coworker of mine recently found out her daughter was trying to hook up with dudes via myspace. This would be grand and all, but she's 14. Anyways, I was asked if there's a way to block certain websites without going for Net Nanny or any other programs.
She uses firefox, is going to give me a 12 pack of beer for this, and asked me because "you're a nerd, right?" (followed up with stumbling over herself apologizing for calling me a nerd)

Go to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ And there will be a file called HOSTS. Open it in notepad and put *.myspace.* in it and it will block the website.

Also, the daughter will find away to get around it. If you don't want her to, tell her to block google also.

Hosts might not always work, which is why I didn't recommend it, but if you want to try it you'll also need to put in the redirect address of 127.0.0.1

Also, sometimes you'll need to save the hosts. to your desktop and copy it back over the top. Remember, it has no file extension.

14 year olds these days will get around it, since the mother doesn't seem "computer literate".

I recommend better parenting. This solves many problems before they begin, on and off the internet.
