I can safely say that Raw has gone off the deep end and never plans on returning.
Regis as Guest Host? Pete Wentz? Serena Williams? Al Sharpton?
Fuck.
Only one that I'm mildly interested in is Bob Barker, and that's to see if he's gonna use the Diva's as his beauties, and if he brings the plinko board with him.
Main event of that night will be Renamed to "The Showcase Showdown."

Planned to last until early next year–possibly through WrestleMania 26–the program has attracted many recognizable Hollywood and sports names. According to the article, Bob Barker, Al Sharpton, Nancy O’Dell, Floyd Mayweather and LeBron James have been booked for future episodes. Freddie Prinze, Jr. hosts Monday’s edition.
Meanwhile, Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, the Osbournes, Danny DeVito, Regis Philbin, Kelly Ripa, Jimmy Fallon, Rachael Ray, MC Hammer, Woody Harrelson, Serena Williams and Ashton Kutcher are all in talks to host.
Good Lord. :nono: The names I bolded are pretty much all sure to be failures. And believe me or not, I actually, for some reason unbeknownst to me or another, I was actually thinking about how awful actors like DeVito (but especially him) would be...looks like nightmares really do come true...I hope they stop this shit after August 24th because it has been, for the most part, with the exception of Sarge hosting last week, just awful, and RAW deserves to just have a new GM named already.

Sarge was awful, and his anti Canada stuff didn't insult me as a Canadian, it insulted me as a wrestling fan.
Pretty sure I'm going to watch even less wrestling now.

Pros:
MC Hammer coming out to U cant touch this will be memorable
Devito would be great if he comes with the entire sunny cast, in philly
Woody Harrelson is Woody Harrelson
Ozzy trying not to curse during PG raw
Cons:
Watching Jimmy Fallon struggle through his lines and laugh and look at the camera every single moment
Al Sharpton will just be teddy long with hair YA FEEL ME!
All in all its pretty hit or miss, Hopefully they sign New Jack for the Pete Wentz/Ashlee Simpson episode. Lets cross our fingers

Jesus Christ. There's no way I'll be watching Raw for long if this is true. I really don't want to endure another 7 months of this "Guest Host" bullshit.
Not only will we have to endure constant bombardment of blatant advertisements about whatever the celebrity is doing, but all the fans who aren't American or Canadian, will sometimes have to deal with an unknown "Celebrity" who we couldn't give a damn about to be honest.
Like I doubt all the European fans will be creaming there pants when they're told that LeBron James or Bob Barker will be the next Guest Host and so on.
Stating the obvious here, but SmackDown is clearly the better show these days. The quicker Vince gets his head out his ass and finds an actual GM for Raw, the better.
Kelly Ripa and Rachael Ray!? OH MY GOD, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH VINCE?!

Man...when I first heard of the guest host idea I admit I kind of liked it.
Mostly because I like the idea of seeing legends come back.
However..all those celebrities..that is just stupid. Then again..Vince is really taking the direction of the company to be more accessible to the general public it seems. Probably going to fail miserably or do very very well.

What puzzles me is they're going in a more family friendly direction, right?
Batista makes sense. The kids love him. Even some of the choices like Seth Green kinda make sense, even if the kids don't know him directly (May or may not). I get that.
I just don't even know who Regis or Rachel Ray is supposed to draw in. Not within any audience WWE would generally court, anyway.
So is this real? I trust Ryan Clark about as far as I'd trust Crossrine with a bomb, a Quran, and a plane ticket.

I still haven't watched a single Raw since they've started doing the guest hosts (not by choice, I'll start watching again next week), so I'll refrain from judgment for now, but I must say that it sounds absolutely fucking awful.

A strange, fucked up part of me that I almost hate is starting to get into this whole guest hosting idea. It's pure entertainment value (Ideally... even if nights come along where the idea doesn't work.) Couldn't be further from Smackdown! right now. This is the closest we've come to actual rival forms of wrestling since 2001. I don't know. There's a charm to the idea that I'm starting to feel.

THINGS THAT WILL HAPPEN WITH THE RAW GUEST HOSTS:
Al Sharpton:
* The Boogeyman, D'Lo Brown, Ahmed Johnson and 2 Cold Scorpio all get rehired
* MVP is granted infinite title shots
Rachael Ray:
* Mark Henry develops a huge crush. A woman that can cook? Perfect!
Ashton Kutcher:
* Ashton plays pranks on all of the wrestlers backstage, only to get the shit kicked out of him at the end of the night.
....actually, that Ashton one might not be too bad.

Vince seriously needs to get off the crack pipe and step down, the guy is so out of touch with people today its not even funny. Does he actually think bringing in these arseholes increases ratings? Whats his thought process? "hmm raws ratings are way down, time to bring in some condescending cunt who will say he\she loves wrestling but has never seen seen a match in his\her life, he\she can "host" and be in 3 segments totalling 5 minutes of air time, clearly this plan of action will boost ratings, not putting actual thought into storylines.
Fucking idiot, retire Vince you lost the plot years ago, only way you could compete with wcw was by ripping off ecw and copying the nwo you silly old codger. Only thing you're good at these days is rehashing the same old shite and walking like you just shit yourself.

I have no problem at all with Guest Hosts in principle. It's different, it keeps the show fresh from week to week (each show has a different backbone) and some of them haven't done a bad job. Shaq was entertaining, Prinze was okay, Seth wasn't bad either...
They just need to refrain from over-shilling (Jeremy Piven was excruciating), bring in people who actually provide mass interest (I guess Piven did this, in a way), and people who are at least somewhat familiar with the product or - at the very least - don't look like they're only there to push their latest project, even if in reality they are. (Piven, again, I'm looking at you...)
Also, they need to find a balance between celebrities and wrestling personalities. I'd like to see them alternate each week or at least balance it out 50/50.
Establishing Raw as an alternative for the usual celeb product plugging circuit (late night talk shows, daytime shows etc) is a great idea from a marketing perspective, and whatever you want to say about Vince McMahon, he truly is a marketing genius. The better integrated into the product the celebs become, the bigger the names that will show up. This can only be good for the visibility and mainstream crossover of WWE and its wrestlers.
They just need to refrain from using Z-list celebrities just for the sake of cramming a 'star' onto each show. For example, if the best name they can come up with one week is Rachel Ray (who?) then give Hulk Hogan a call instead. Utilising non-entity celebs will only have an adverse effect on the proceedings, and pigeonhole Raw as a Z-list kinda show. Stick to big name celebs, and if for whatever reason you cannot find a big name in any given week, call Eric Bischoff, call Stone Cold, call Heyman, call Ultimate Warrior, call Todd Pettengill, call Sean Mooney... hell, call Randy Savage! Yeah, yeah, I know...
Vince, in his usual egoMcMahoniacal fashion, will oversaturate the celeb concept until it's dead in the water by promoting useless non-entities... so those who don't care for the idea needn't get too upset about it; it will go the way of all Vince's other failures by the time that dude who cried to leave Britney Spears alone shows up as host.
NeanderCarl

They also need to ensure that celebrities are promoted each week to complement the WWE and it's ongoing storylines, not at the detriment of them. A Guest Host is the axis of the show; that show needs to serve a purpose. That purpose needs to be mainly to advertise the WWE, its storylines and its upcoming events. This can be done whilst still giving a shout out to the Guest Host's current project, but the latter should never be at the expense of the former.
When the WWE learns how to create this balance, and not drop its knickers at the prospect of having "real stars" show up, then they're onto something good. In the "WWE Universe", and in the presentation of its weekly shows, the WWE wrestlers should be presented as equal or better than any celebrity who shows up, lest they look second rate. The company and its "Superstars" fawning over the has-been likes of MC Hammer just doesn't achieve this at all.
