How to make a basic virtual server

Basically, all I want is somewhere to store a bunch of vids online.

I have no idea how to make servers etc.

But ideally, i'd want an address that would then link to something (maybe one of my hard drives at home? or an virtual space online) that has a simple explorer function which just has a few folders with ome mp4's within them.

So i'm assuming the main ways would be to either buy some webspace and just upload whatever.

Or using some kind of look up onto one of my drives etc.

I've heard there's a way to hook a usb onto a router via a ethernet connection so it's online all the time and then hook it up via an FTP thing, but that's outside of my limited knowledge.

Any help would be great

That should set you up an FTP server, and https://www.dyndns.com/ should give you a quick and dirty domain name.
