I was watching King of the Mountain 2007 this morning and it was pretty damn good match. I must say it might just be my favorite out of all of them.

I am not shitting you.

Yeah the whole having to Pin somebody to qualify is a little bit much........

They should be able to just go after the belt any time. I would keep the penalty box also. But they start the count before they get put in the box so you may spend a total of 30 seconds in the penalty box.

Fucking WHAT? What's a reverse ladder match? Do you try to HANG something from the rafters?

So from what I'm hearing, there's a match with a ladder in it. You can't climb the ladder until you score a pinfall or submission over someone. Once you're pinned or submitted, you go to a penalty box. If you're the one that did the pinning or submitting, you take off your belt and try to hang it from the ceiling.

How far off is that?

From Wikipedia:

Match format
The competitors in the match start out as "ineligible" to win. In order to become "eligible", a wrestler must score a pinfall or submission on an opponent. The opponent who submits or is pinned is forced to spend two minutes in the "penalty box" cage. More than one wrestler can be in the cage. This often results in wrestlers fighting inside the cage or forming some sort of alliance.

Once "eligible", the wrestler may win the match by retrieving the belt and hanging it on the hook suspended above the ring with the aid of the ladders. A TNA official maintains possession of the belt and circles the ring, staying out of the action as much as possible. When a wrestler wishes to hang the belt, he must retrieve it from the official. Once the belt is in play, any other wrestler who is eligible may attempt to steal the belt and hang it. Once the belt has been dropped and no wrestler is attempting to hang it, a referee returns the belt to the official.

The matchup is similar to the more common ladder match, which has the belt suspended above the ring and the winner is the one who retrieves it with the use of a ladder. The King of the Mountain match is considered backwards in nature to the ladder match, as the competitors attempt to hang the belt instead of retrieving it.

So does anyone have any King of the Mountain match the prefer. I liked the 2007 match it was very fast paced and very good.

That's....innovative, I guess...but the whole concept of a ladder match is to have the prize suspended for any of the competitors to grab, ya know? It seems silly to have the end of the match be someone hanging the great prize on a hook and just...leaving it there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there an Ultimate X match where the X fell before it was supposed to? Do you think King of the Mountain was made to prevent that sort of thing from happening again?

I have to say I have never actually seen one.

I'm not a fan of matches that over complicate, just add to the match

lol, maybe it was.

Yes, that did happen, and they all looked to the back looking for direction.

Have 2 people who have been penalized started fighting in the penalty box?

Indifferent Clox
08-19-2009, 08:17 PM
I could see that being interesting. It sounds over complicated but really there are only 3 things, pin/submit, go hang belt. If you got pinned, go to box. Everyone else just tries to stop teh guy with the belt.

pretty bad ass if you think about it. Haven't seen a match but am now kinda interested since I know the rules.

I like King of the Mountain, with the penalty box and qualifying. All the matches are pretty okay. If they instead just had it a regular ladder match with the pins and penalty box it would be better. Another gripe I have is the matches only last 20 minutes which is too short for five guys and all those pins. The match should be at least 25 to 30 minutes to accomidate such a loaded gimmick.

this years x division KOTM match was pretty bad ass

o like the idea of the penalty box being there, but not the penalties, reason being that you can use the cage as a kicker box and watch people fly
