Series based on the Science fiction book of the same name by Robert J. Sawyer. They advertised this during the last few episodes of season 5 of Lost and it looked interesting. I'm actually half way through the book at the moment and it's pretty interesting.
Starts September 24th. Anyone going to be giving this a watch?

The book started to take a strange turn at the end. And there was a shitload of physics talk in it but still a very good book. The main character from the book is going to turn up in the show played by Jack Davenport.

Im glad I have a two tuner DVR because they threw this up against Community on NBC on Thursdays though Community gets a couple weeks in 30 Rock's later time slot.
This has to be the worst fall season ever. Im really only looking forward to those two shows and Modern Family on ABC (which has Ed O'Neill in it..yeah). Everything else Ive seen previews of looks like cancelation foder..
So, this show starts over here on Monday and is being touted as "the new Lost". However, I haven't heard anything on here about it from you guys.
Any good?

meh, decent, but it's got nothing on Lost. I was hooked on Lost after th first 15 minutes. I love how the opening scene was like a mirror image of Lost's opening scene. It did kind of pick up towards the end and the "guy" they found moving while everyone was knocked out was pretty cool. I just don't see how they will keep the momentum going. The long preview they showed at the end of future episodes didn't really excite me much.
I liked it alot. I wasnt comparing it to Lost. Its nothing to do with Lost.
the ending was pretty cool

My Lost commment was directed to whomever up there said it was suppossed to be the new Lost.
I have nothing to watch on Thursday, so I will definately keep watching. I thought I saw Charlie from Lost in the show. Is that right?
Anyway, the first half hour felt really rushed and it wasn't really hooking me, but they started to slow things down and explain shit in the final 20 minutes and I liked that. Then like I said, the ending was a nice twist.

Never read the book but the show has some very annoying qualities to it. Before I continue, it reminds me of the show Lost. I've seen every episode of Lost but do not recommend it to my friends, nor will I until I see the finale. While week to week I'm entertained with Lost and find it to be a good show, it's also a very annoying show and I wonder if the payoff will infact be worth it.
As for FlashForward, we are 2 episodes into it now and there is a major plot flaw in my book, that being with the FlashForward blackouts themselves. Everyone had a blackout at the same time and date, and people are aware of the time and date. The blackouts are of their future self at that specific time. Based on the FBI guys blackout, we can assume the future self is aware of the blackout happening since he is constructing a case (despite the fact this would create some sort of infinite mobius strip type of time loop). But if we were to assume the future self is aware of the blackout, then how stupid is the entire world. They all saw into the future at a specific time and are aware when that time will be. Not one person was like "oh hey maybe I should send my old self a message, perhaps about winning lottery numbers or something else that could make my life better" Instead you have people looking down the stairs at some guy. If you aren't greedy wouldn't you at least be hovered around a TV or gathered with a group of people wondering if something fucked up was about to happen.
This concludes one of two things in my books, the flashforwards are not real at all and something larger is at play to completely mind fuck with people.
Or, they are real and the future can be changed, which would be disappointing in my books.
Probably gonna go read the spoilers for the book now to answer these questions for myself. Never really care about plot holes in shows, but this one really bothers me. And outside of that I am enjoying the show, but there is either a major flaw in logic and time theory within the show, or with me. Hopefully it is with me as the show seems to be at least trying something different.
Hanso Amore

I dunno about that.
Its sort of like a time travel deal.
The Blackouts Happen, and then 6 months later something happens that allows people currently alives consciousness to travel back to them 6 months before.
This creates a new time line where the people know what is going to happen and try to change it.
Honestly, this is IMHO very much a sort of rip off of Desmond of Lost and really last season of lost.
Remember, The main character said in the pilot that it wasnt like a memory, but rather his consciousness changed to 6 months in the future.

You're not making sense to me. The future self cant be like " oh yah its that time now, i'm gunna tell him lottery numbers ". The only way the future self is possible is if the present self see's it. The present self didnt even know he would see his future, so how could his future warn the present ?

Was there really an Oceanic Airlines poster in the show!? I never noticed that... It seems like lost only they already have a story arch with an end to it...is the book a stand alone? If they do a second season it would be cool if it's just a whole new story(with new people) who went threw the first blackout/flash foward and there is a second one, or even a prequale

I don't think a new timeline is created with everyone trying to change the future they saw...
See I'm pretty sure no matter what they try to do to change the outcome that they saw, that outcome will happen (likely as a result of the things they did to try and not make it happen)
but that one guy had the bong and Harlod from Harold and Kummer realized that might be his chance to see if you can change the future, i'm pretty sure he's going to try bust him to change the future and whatever happens it's going to some how backfire and be the reason the guy gets the airport job....
so basicly all the stuff they try to do to make the stuff not happen. is exacly what is supposed to happen in the lead up to said event....

Another good episode last night here in the UK. Jack Davenport and a glimpse of that hobbit that was in Lost setting more things up. Still haven't seen the first two episodes, was there many action scenes like that of the bus going into the lake when everybody had their flash forward? Intense. This series is turning out to be unmissable for me. Good stuff.
yah that bus scene was awesome and Ned looked like Ben sort of. Was that a Bjork song playing during that scene? The song was perfect.
El Vaquero de Infierno
10-20-2009, 09:12 AM
It was Bjork.
Anyways, I'm finding the series rather "blah" right now. I don't care about any of the characters, and it just feels like Lost or Invasion, when the story would only edge a little forward every episode, and it gives you something at the end of the epi that is supposed to make you carry on watching.

The Hollywood trades are reporting that fan favorites V and Chuck will be renewed for next season. NBC is giving Chuck a third season, while ABC is set to keep its new version of the 1980s science fiction saga V on tap for a second go-round. Both the Chuck and V orders are expected to be for just 13 episodes, which is typically all the commitment that a network will give to a “bubble” show these days.
The same trade sources are predicting a dire fate for both NBC’s once popular Heroes and for ABC’s freshman science fiction series Flash Forward, which was created by David Goyer (Batman, The Dark Knight). It is likely that the Heroes team will be given at least one TV movie-type opportunity to tie up the series’ loose ends, if indeed it does get cancelled. Don’t count on Flash Forward getting the same option, if it gets canned.

It is no longer speculation. Flash Forward is canceled.
The majority of ABC's new programs are dramas, ranging from gritty police show "Detroit 1-8-7," to "My Generation," which centers on a group of fictitious high-school students from Austin, Texas, who reunite a decade after graduation.
In all, ABC, a division of Walt Disney Co will premiere six new dramas in 2010-11. ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson will formally present the schedule to advertisers and affiliates at a planned upfront event at Lincoln Center on Tuesday.
It is the second year in a row that ABC will make major changes to its schedule, after rolling out 11 new shows during last year's upfronts, the period each May when U.S. broadcast networks introduce their lineups then start negotiating with advertisers over billions of dollars in commercial time.
While last year's crop of programing resulted in some strong ABC comedies -- including the breakout hit "Modern Family" -- many of the dramas failed to find an audience and will not return, including "Flash Forward" and "Eastwick."
The result is that ABC, even with the success of "Modern Family" and "Dancing with the Stars," is battling with NBC for last place among the major networks in the ratings race. Adding to its headaches, "Lost" will soon run its final episode.
Hoping to retain some of the "Lost" audience, ABC will introduce another supernatural show on Tuesdays this fall called "No Ordinary Family." It tells the story of a family that survives a plane crash, and, upon returning home, finds they possess special powers.
ABC will also roll out two more crime dramas. The first, "Detroit 1-8-7," the Detroit cop show starring Michael Imperioli of "The Sopranos," will appear on Tuesday nights. "Body of Proof" is planned for Fridays and features Dana Delany, previously of "Desperate Housewives," as a crime-solving medical examiner.
"The Whole Truth," a legal drama that examines cases from two angles -- the prosecution's side and the defense's side --will also appear on ABC's autumn lineup. At midseason, "Off the Map," a medical drama set in an isolated rain forest, will debut.
ABC will try to bolster its Wednesday comedy schedule with "Better Together," a romantic comedy about three different couples sorting through relationships.
Two other comedies are due to arrive midseason. "Happy Endings" is about a group of friends, two of whom break up just as they are about to get married, while "Mr. Sunshine" stars Matthew Perry of "Friends" as the manager of a second-rate sports arena who is facing a mid-life crisis.
It also has one new alternative series planned, "Secret Millionaire."
Fox, a division of News Corp, and NBC, in which Comcast Corp is about to buy a majority stake from General Electric, have already unveiled their 2010-11 schedules.
CBS will introduce its programing plans on Wednesday.

First Invasion now this show like seriously when Lost is over what the fawk else does ABC have for decent shows other than V? At least the show had decent progression and actually answered questions throughout rather than cramming it in all at the very end.
