Let's go back to when you were first a wrestling fan, or at least when you remember being one.

Would you have been a Cena fan?

This is assuming this current era is the era you started watching in.

I was a Hogan fan so probably

I didn't like the talking parts, and I didn't really like Hogan. So, I would assume no.

Bottom line, Cena tries too hard during his interviews and promos, and not hard enough to make the matches worth watching. That is why I'm not a fan. I'm sure he's a great guy and all that, but outside of giving thirteen year olds a reason to masturbate, I don't think he contributes much to the fans.

I am quite sure that I would have been huge into him as a kid. I won't say that I hate him now, but fairly sick of seeing him. I do like the crowd pop when he comes out. That goes for anyone that gets that huge of a reaction out of the crowd though. For me when the crowd gets into it that much it makes mediocrity tolerable.

I started in late 98 so probably not since I was too busy marking out for Kane, Taker, DX, and Austin. It just wouldn't have fit in.

if I started watching it today then yes i would be a Cena fan. I started watching wrestling around mid 90's and it was a time where it was the good guy vs bad guy scenerio. I cheered for the good guys like Taker, HBK,etc.

I have no idea, I was a Bret Hart guy myself but I usually liked all the good guys so I probably would have liked Cena. But at the same time, his character at this point is a gigantic fag.

Can't say for sure but I doubt it.

I used to like him cause he put on good matches consistantly, now he is packaged to just do a few moves every match and over impress with promo's.

When he was in his initial heel run and he had some edge to his character he was money in the bank. He was putting out gold constantly and he was controversial, but the company watered him down and it's really hard to say why... it's like they don't want to give the audience too much entertainment or something.

I get the same feeling, which is ironic considering the company name.

I hated Hogan when I was a kid because I thought he was a crap wrestler, so in theory I would hate Cena too....

When I was a kid I liked Hogan but I liked Savage, Piper, and Bret way more. And now I realize that it was because those guys were so much better in the ring than Hogan. But I still did cheer Hogan so yeah I guess I would've liked Cena too.

I don't really hate Cena now though so it's not that big of a change.

If I started watching in the current era, it wouldn't matter whether I liked Cena or not because I would never have become a fan.

My love for wrestling is based mainly on nostalgia nowadays. Nostalgia for 1985-1993 and 1997-2001.

I liked Goldberg and Sting. And nWo . I don't know if I would have liked Cena. But I liked Disco Inferno, so probably. I kind of wanted an lWo shirt at one point.

However, back on topic- Let's assume that Cena was pushed to the same heights. The entire show would be nothing but main events, which means tag teams would be lower, and the midcard would be even more compressed than it is now. We'd see Hulk Hogan and John Cena team up. All the little Hulkamaniacs and the Chain Gang sporting yellow and red John Cena shirts...
There wouldn't be any focus on the IC title, no real tag teams because the Mega-Faces (which was an idea that we rehashed too many times to recall) would dominate the tag team scene, and it would just be Cena and Hogan vs two random heels at any point in time.
I doubt I could have been a fan in that landscape.

I always cheered for the heels.

I would not have liked him. I never really go for the obvious popular choices. I never liked The Rock and Chris Jericho when I started watching, and they were two of the most over guys on the roster. They were certainly the two with the loudest personalities, but that just didn't do it for me at the time.

Cena is not a character I'd bite into.

Then again, I LOVED Hulk Hogan when I was little so who knows.

I went through the same 'progression'

I said maybe, I started watching age 8 so I'd have probably 'cheered him' against the bad guys, he definitely wouldn't have been one of my favourites though. a) His character isn't all that great, b) His moveset is whack.

If Cena was like he was in 03-04 when I started watching then I'd have become a big fan.
