I don't think he was offered a new contract since the WWE figured he was going to do movies full time. From the sounds of it, if the WWE would have offered him a contract he would have accepted.

That's really irresponsible if that was the case...and the guy that 'forgot' should have been fired on the spot.

The WWE can be really retarded in their approach a lot of times. I heard a story that in Lilian Garcia's last WWE appearance, the writers deliberately fed her the wrong lines in order to embarrass her (since she was on her way out). :|
