A new 2d fighter created by one:eek: person named Tamoaki Sugeno who apparently used to work on the old King of Fighters series and Resident Evil 3. This beautiful game is freeware and was made with 2d Fighter Maker 2002, another freeware program/engine.

The Mortal Kombat team should just shoot themselves out of shame.

This guy needs a date, though. Probably why he had time to put this together. Fuckin-A.

Remember Fighter Maker for PS2? I was this close to buying it, but the options were lacking. You essentially modded a set engine.

Same engine, different results.

Probably unbalanced as all Hell, but I just wanted to show another example of MIDWAY NOT GETTING IT BUT EVERYBODY ELSE DOES.

You wouldn't want to. It looking like Virtua Fighter One isn't really an issue, it was just limited. All people did was make silly looking moves anyway. And about that trend...
Here you are with an engine to make what you want, and you get people making asses of themselves. Don't get me started on MUGEN. What's the appeal of Angel Akuma fighting Evil Ken, both controlled by CPU, doing hilariously unbalanced shit? C'mon.
And the XNA network? We've looked thru it... My God.
Vision people. Vision and presentation. The quality will come forth from that.

There are a few gems in the 360's indie library. Including a hilariously retarded Streets of Rage/Mortal Kombatesque beat em up (Batman Forever but worse/better) for only 80 points called Streets of Fury.

Looks like some 90s bullshit, but still better than MK.

Funny you mentioned that, because that's one of the few we got a good vibe from. It looked inspired.

It's fucking hilarious. Gameplay never really changes, but good god I laughed. Best 80 MSP I ever spent.

There's always gems in every example, but the main point is right. Youtube, GHTunes, almost every open RPG editor I've ever seen....Give people freedom, they will make stupid, annoying shit.

Mind you, I think it's natural that user created content would have more so-so's than gems, but I think people seem to settle on their projects more often than not.

That to me is unacceptable. There should be no compromise imo.

Dude, programming for games is hard. Too many variables.

I'm not looking for freakin Zelda, just some semblance of effort. And some of these don't seem to think their stuff is going national/global.

User-content is similar to create-a-character in games. The majority of people make a quick character or something that is fun or to show off to friends. Not everyone makes a detailed character and then add in all the correct moves and stats that might take an hour or more to finish.
