View Full Version : Vince Russo mission

TNARICK

It is being said backstage in TNA that lead writer Vince Russo is "on a mission" to make their top talent such as AJ Styles, Matt Morgan, and Hernandez into bigger stars. Dixie Carter is also said to be a huge fan of those three wrestlers.

With Russo having complete creative control, he wants to send a message to younger talent that they are looking to develop new stars. The general feeling backstage is that Russo is more trustworthy than Jeff Jarrett, whom had a reputation for supporting his circle of friends only.

In a email Vince Russo said this

He is writing TNA according to his "vision" from this point onwards once he gets all the "characters in place"

This is can be compared to the attitude era more then WCW 2000 where he had to rush everything and big storylines because they wanted changes overnight.

Yeah they may be given more of an opportunity at the moment, but until I see these guys becoming legit main event stars then my original comment remains accurate.

You would've thought this would've been Russo's mission in the first place.

Yeah, so what was his mission before this current mission? Did batman get that e-mail too?

TNARICK

You would've thought this would've been Russo's mission in the first place.

It has been but before he had Dutch and Jarrett stopping him from putting it into effect.

KYR

His mission was the same, he just chose not to accept it.

Also revealing this, completely takes away any 'surprise' win they may have in the future. Russo isn't very smart is he?

So having Sting move on to the main event instead of Hernandez really did something for Hernandez didn't it?

TNARICK

They are not going to be draws overnight, he is setting them up with good character development and interaction with other top talents to help elevate them before getting the titles on them.

mike adamle
09-06-2009, 07:56 PM
So having a chance to elevate Hernandez to a main event isn't in place enough?

He was referring to his keyboard not TNA talent.

Not yet, he is making the casual fans care about these guys first and then you will be seeing them in more main events and getting more title wins.

You all complain about Russo because you have been brainwashed by the internet .. but he is the kind of guy that will make new superstars just like he is the reason that The Rock, Stone Cold, The Undertaker, and the Vince Mcmahon character got to where they were.

Why the fuck would he be worried about 'making the casual fans care'?????

I'd be concentrating on the 'bread and butter' fans before making any changes.

That's just retarded.

It's not retarded if you think about how WWE cater towards the casual market. Granted Raw sucks but they still make money.

But therein lies your problem. He's not talking about WWE, he's talking about TNA.

TNA would have very few Casual fans as it's overall fan-base is pretty static.

WWE's fan-base is much larger and there would be a higher percentage of Casual fans (as can be atested by the fluctuation in it's ratings). TNA ratings remain fairly constant and with a markedly smaller fan-base, you need to cater your direction at the masses NOT the casuals.

KYR

Can't believe I just used the term 'masses' in describing TNA's fan-base.

"You can't get there in a week. Keep in mind, Jeff was in charge of creative for seven years--and it was heanily based on wrestling--you can't change that overnight. Plus--it's a different crew I'm working with--a lot of these younger guys can't yet pull of what Austin, Rock, DX, and Mick did. They're still green and very young--they're not seasoned professionals. I'm taking baby steps with these younger guys--because they still have so much to learn." -- Vince Russo in latest email
