Truman Show. I loved JP as a kid, but I dunno. If you asked me today which movie I'd rather watch right now, I'd pick Truman.

Truman Show. I love that movie, and it might be Carrey's best performance ever.

Shit.

That is a hard choice.

Two very different movies that both excel at what they are attempting to achieve.

I would say that Truman Show was better done. I think Jurrasic Park relied more on it's special effects, whereas Truman Show was more about the story.

That is not to say that Jurrasic Park was not the perfect Dinosaur movie.

Wow I absolutely love both of these movies but I have to give the vote to Jurassic Park it may not anywhere as deep as Truman show but it's slightly more entertaining in the end.

Truman Show was the first movie where Jim Carrey stepped out of the wacky persona he had and showed a bit more range.
I think at the time it helped establish him as a classic movie star. I wish his serious projects would have all turned out like that afterwards. None of them really panned out as well, and his comedy roles took a step down as well.
It kind of stinks, because Jim Carrey has still had an iconic movie career, but it could have been so much more if he kept starring in movies this good.

I'd have to say it's my 2nd favorite Carrey movie that's for sure I always thought he was underrated as a dramatic actor. He hasn't been done anything really that serious with the exception of the Number 23 which he was still very good in too bad the movie itself stunk. Now he's stuck in roles where he's trying to be almost a hybrid if ya get what I sayin.

He went for a few dramatic roles. The Majestic was one of them. Man on the Moon was humorous, and about a comedian, but it was a semi-serious role. It was definitely an ambitious performance.

After that string, it seemed like people wanted him to get back to slapstick comedy. Once he did, it just didn't seem to click like it did before. Now he seems to be in a limbo where he tries a little bit of both but a good amount of them don't really work out.

I'm not sure how he does at the box office, but "Yes Man", "Fun With Dick and Jane", and others definitely aren't pleasing crowds like his earlier comedies were.

I though The Majestic was sure better than it was given credit for and Man On The Moon was decent but had too long of a runtime for my liking. As for Yes Man I think he was miscast for it was almost a romantic comedy. Don't think I ever saw Fun With Dick & Jane oddly enough since I also like Tia Leoni too.

Jurassic Park, if nothing else for sentimental reasons. JP was the first actual novel I ever read, way back in 3rd grade lol.

Love the Truman show. Love the book Time Out of Joint too which they apparently used as a basis for the film. Definitely one of, if not the best Jim Carrey film.

Truman Show, although JP is brilliant.

Speaking of Carrey in serious roles can't believe Eternal Sunshine has not been mentioned.

Jurassic Park. First, for sentimental value, it being my fave movie as a 12 year old. Not to mention the book being amazing.

But the film lived up to it. Back in 1993 JP looked fucking amazing, and it still holds up to this day. Dinos have never looked so real. In a way, that film was a big time pre-cursor to other projects, and it influenced the way a lot of directors go about making their movies now.

Truman show doesn't even compare.

Plus, I mean....Malcolm.
