Fuck Batista. He's going to ruin everybody's good time. There's no way this can possibly be good. :nono:

With Jeff gone they kinda need a main event level guy on the roster, despite it being Batista. I'm not happy with it either and I'm sure the IWC has its panties in a bunch, but he does draw.

I really can't think of one interesting thing for him to do on the blue brand...or the red brand...or the gray brand....god damn it, this is sad.

I just haven't been entertained by Batista since his initial face turn/title win. That Batista was awesome. I think the problelm is he's been that same guy ever since.

I dunno, there might be a ray of hope in this. Michael Hayes knows how to book guys. He might find a way to get in touch with what originally made Batista tolerable in the first place. Maybe. Can I be hopeful?

There's just not enough room on RAW for yet another main eventer, and SmackDown! could use a big name. I mean, in theory, it all works out. It's just the practicality I guess we have to worry about.

Anybody Thrilla
09-15-2009, 11:55 AM
I don't think Hayes will think he has to make Batista 'tolerable'. He DOES get a reaction, so I don't think he'll be trying to fix something that isn't 'broken'. I feel like the same old Batista shit is coming on.

Anybody Thrilla

Batista will probably beat CM Punk in a non-title match on his first night on SmackDOWN!, then The Undertaker will beat him at the PPV, and we'll get Batista/Undertaker again after that.

Not to mention Edge and Rey as well.

I don't have a problem with it. Batista is capable of having good matches with superior workers and Smackdown is the place to be for that. Could even potentially be the most rewarding period of his career, performance wise.

I will say however I was looking forward to him potentially turning and I don't see that happening any time soon on Smackdown.

With Edge and Jeff Hardy gone, who's a legitimate main event level guy on the roster besides CM and Taker, and don't say Matt Hardy. His beer gut ass should never be main eventing.

Be great if he did turn heel on Smackdown. Something unintentionally hilarious/ironic about a straight edge Punk befriending Batista

What I don't understand is why they're taking him out of the incredibly stale main event scene on Raw and putting him in the fresh main event scene on Smackdown.

I'm sure it's to entice the Raw crowd to watch Smackdown.

I'm not denying Batista is a main eventer. I'm just saying I'm not a fan. I also don't think he's going to fit will into the Smackdown landscape. Hopefully I'm wrong.

That and the reasons I listed above. RAW has too many main eventers; SmackDown! doesn't have enough.

I can't see how cm punk can retain his title v batista(actually he could win the tlc match), the odds are being heavily stacked against punk it seems.

Batista NEEDS to turn heel. Immobile monsters are always better suited to play heels.

Supreme, there's no room for him to be heel though, unless its for the ic title. or he could start a feud with khali.:(

It would probably be the worst match ever, but for some reason, the prospect of heel Kane vs Batista is intriguing.

When Batista enters his cheat code for a title shot, Punk can wax lyrical about how Dave has clearly been on something to get to the size he is now.

Batista vs Knox hasn't been done yet

Batista vs McIntyre could be...okay

Batista vs Ziggler (as long as Ziggles goes over) would be entertaining

I thought I read on the front page that Vince is pretty much devoting all of his attention to Raw as of late, and he's hardly paying attention to Smackdown. I wonder if maybe he's changing his views on that.

You must be high if you think Ziggler, McIntyre, or Knox would go over Batista in a feud right now.

I don't think they would...just think it would be different to Batista vs Taker or Batista vs Khali or Batista vs Big Show.

Big Show's on Raw, technically.

Anyway, I'd just rather not see anyone's momentum get stopped on account of Batista. It's bound to happen, though.

I'd like for this to work, I really would. I just don't see it being enjoyable unless he does turn heel, which a few have mentioned wouldn't really make much sense. Logically, what do you guys think his first feud should be?

Logically (in WWE booking terms), it would probably be Dolph Ziggler (unfortunatley). He ticks all the boxes.

Entertaining - check
Cocky Heel - check
Over - check
Mid to upper mid card to ease him back in before he gets a title shot- check
Has momentum - check
Can job within thirty seconds- check

Ideally, it would be somebody like Kane, but it won't be.

Actually, I think Kane has got a good shot. Kane continues to go over Khali, and is riding a wave of credibility right now. It also flows on from Kane's reasons for feuding with Khali ("I'm the only monster on SmackDown!"). But I can also see Batista being shoved right into the main event scene.

Smackdown's problem is not enough face characters in main event. They had to turn Matt Hardy face as insurance in case Jeff left too early than expected. For heels, they have plenty such as Jericho, Kane, and Finlay if they wanted short term feuds.

I think right now their only main faces would be Matt Hardy and Khali (based on being a past champion). They probably have Edge coming back as a face but he might be involved with Jericho while they lost CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, and Rey Mysterio.

Edit: Forgot all about Morrison as a face but WWE isn't pushing him to the main event to fill in for Rey's suspension or Jeff Hardy leaving.

Morrison needs more time. I love watching him but he has so much potential to be huge that I hope they take their time (which it seems they are doing not even including him on ppvs).

Batista has been terrible since he beat HHH at WM except for the beg stages of his program with Eddie.

Hopefully, Batista is used to put over CM Punk.

If Batista eventually turns heel on the show, I wouldn't mind seeing him do a clean job to a returning Edge.

I'm not sure when Batista will retire, but I wouldn't mind seeing a face Edge be the one to retire him.

Emperor Smeat
09-15-2009, 04:42 PM
Smackdown doesn't need any more heels, their problem is not enough faces once Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio both went off the show. News is saying main reason Undertaker came back early was to help fill the face void but he can't wrestle as much since his back is still sore.

Batista is going to be a face probably until Edge and Mysterio returns then he can turn heel if they have nothing for him as a face character.

Hayes will find a way to use Batista that doesn't piss everyone off. It's his thing. Simply having Batista on the roster won't ruin Smackdown. He's got Khali and Kane in a feud out of the main event that isn't unbearable. He'll figure something out.

I like the prospect of Kane v Batista. If they eventually let Punk get over the undertaker in a convincing match then Punk may be able to get over Batista down the road. The thing that worries me is that Batista beat Orton on raw. It's kind of awkward to me seeing Batista take out the number one heel on raw then not going after the belt on SD. However, SD has had the best booking I've seen in a while so I'm going to remain hopeful that they continue to do well.
