View Full Version : So I think my Laptop died or something
Was on it last night, and it got a blue screen and shut off. This has happened 3 or 4 times within the last few weeks, so I thought nothing of it. Restarted it, and it immediately shut off. It tried to restart itself, and shut off again. It won't even get to the point of the screen turning on before it shuts off. It'll restart itself and do this 5 or so times before it stops trying. Pretty sure it's not overheating, because I tried it again this morning after being off all night, and same thing happened. Running XP. I'm gonna take a video of it to give a better explanation of what's going on.

Can you read off what the error code is on the blue screen?
No, because it doesn't stay on long enough for the screen to turn on.

Try unplugging the hard drive and the RAM and then turning then computer on without those. If it still doesn't work you can rule those out.
I'm assuming you've tried turning it on with and without the battery?

Just tried all of that, and still getting nothing.
yo, this has nothing to do with your laptop and everything and I hope you fix it but I rated your video 5 stars and favorited it.

I went out of my way to make sure nothing would be exposed. :p

Can you get into safe mode?
Can you get into safe mode?
I can't get into any mode. What you see in the video is what happens when I press the power button for the first time. It doesn't stay on long enough for even the screen to turn on.

Cooling system
UGH
So I called a local repair shop, and he said it sounds like a bad motherboard. He then gave me a price and we both agreed that it would be better to just buy a new fucking laptop. This is probably a blessing in disguise.

Given his computer prowess, I think we can rule out Asian. And Indian, though they are part of the whole Asian continent.

He was pretty shaky with the camera so I think we can rule out black because they have steady hands for catching footballs. Unless he was on rock. This may warrant further investigation.

I had this same issue with my desktop . I called alienware and the guy told me to unplug power cord. Then press power button for 10 secs with no power cord . fixed my issue. The guy said it needed to drain the excess power or some shit like that . I don't know how it will work with a laptop .
We have set forth on buying a new laptop. Is there a better option to get the shit off the old laptop hard drive than using a IDE hard drive adaptor? aka something I don't have to go buy

No there isn't really, but if you buy an external 3.5 inch hard drive case then you've now got an external drive out of it.

I think you mean 2.5" case?

Yeah.
UPDATE: We bought a new laptop the other day. Very happy with this thing. I'd replace my falling apart desktop with it. Should be getting the free Win 7 upgrade in a few weeks.
