Apparently Chris Hero has 'agreed a deal' with WWE. Still looking for confirmation.

Apparently Power Slam (the magazine) are reporting it on their Facebook page (they have a lot of contacts) but it hasn't popped up elsewhere. If he is going, I wonder if any kind of announcement would be held off until after the weekend, being as it's McGuinness and Danielson's last shows.

Heros Welcome

Well I guess we'll just wait an see.

I kinda hope its true. Don't get me wrong I love Hero in ROH but hes pushing 30 and hes still in the indies, I hope this is his big break.

Plus what I would give to hear a CHRIS IS AWESOME *clap clap clapclapclap* on WWE programming.

If this is true, I expect Castagnoli and Black to be signed soon too. I've never jumped on the "ROH is in trouble" bandwagon, but damn, I don't know. I guess we'll just have to wait & see.

Please let this be true.

It saddens me that ROH is dying, but goddamn, if WWE takes the cream of the crop and treats them decently, I can live with it.

Don't get me wrong, I love ROH, but Smackdown, ECW, and Superstars has been kicking out some damn good wrestling. WWE has been putting on some of it's best matches in a LONG time in the last year.

A quick follow up thought. ROH isn't "dying" per se. I doubt it will die. However, I could see them having to seriously cut back, and return to being a smaller indy promotion for awhile. Basically less shows, less DVDS, cut spending in an attempt to build themselves back up, and build up new talent in the process, while pushing the guys who stay to fill the voids left when other guys take off.

I really think with all these guys leaving, Roderick Strong is finally gonna get to shine as the main guy in roh.

Oh god....

Don't get me wrong, I love Strong in the ring, but... I don't see him leading a company. I'd never pay to see him, and I don't think he has the personality to really have an amazing feud.

I like Roddy too, but my one friend really doesnt. Back at the last Detroit show, Roddy replaced Danileson in the tag match with Kenta, and my friend yelled out "That is not a suitable replacement!"

Roderick Strong has the charisma of a frozen block of peas. Nay to him as champion. I'd rather see Claudio, Davey, Steen, Black, or lots of other guys as champ before him.

Mr. Nerfect

That John Morrison shirt is one that I would actually buy. Morrison is money.

As for Chris Hero joining the WWE? I love it. I mean, ROH has never really used Hero too well. Gabe was apparently not much of a fan of his. The man can wrestle, he can talk, he's charismatic as all hell. He'd at least be an amazing mid-carder in the WWE. And he can go even further than that if things turn out right for him.

I also doubt that ROH will die. ROH has always been a place for the best talent not signed to the WWE or TNA. Granted, now that the WWE have changed what they look for in a lot of talent, ROH's pool has dipped into the WWE's, and of course Vince offers more money; but there are still a large number of guys out there that the WWE wouldn't sign, or that just aren't interested.

For example: What the fuck is taking ROH so long to book Paul London and Brian Kendrick for some shows? Both are tremendous talents, and London has burnt bridges with both the WWE and TNA. He seems like a perfect candidate to become the new "Heart of ROH." Brian Kendrick also apparently interested, and can at least be used for some great matches.

afaik they both live on the west coast and so are expensive to fly in

Davey Richards is really good, but I think he's too small for the WWE. And though he's about the same height as Danielson he doesn't have the all around skills that "The Best in the World" has.

Davey Richards will make a great ROH Champion some day though.

Honestly, if ROH can't fly people in because plane tickets are too expensive, they may be in more trouble than you think.

I have not seen Chris Hero wrestle since he started looking like the lovechild of Steve Corino and Edge when he started wearing short tights. But I have heard nothing but good things about him. Is he still doing the knockout gimmick with his rolling elbows?

I've only seen him in my EWR game, which is to say I've never actually seen him wrestle, but he's a 3 time ROH champion in my game and always puts on great matches.

Honestly, if ROH can't fly people in because plane tickets are too expensive, they may be in more trouble than you think.

Joey Ryan's been working for them but then Joey works a lot of places and isn't ex-WWE. I think it's the combo of flying them in + their match fees that makes it prohibitive.

But yeah ROH has been cutting back for a while. Hence less and less fly ins from Japan etc.

Mr. Nerfect
09-27-2009, 08:11 AM
Well, Brian Kendrick has been working a fair bit with Dragon Gate USA. Where are they based? Apparently four ex-WWE workers are scheduled to join Davey Richards, CIMA and Mike Quackenbush in the tournament to crown the first-ever Open the Freedom Gate Champion. I can very easily see Paul London and Brian Kendrick being involved in that.

It might come down to a preference for working with Gabe Sapolsky than Adam Pearce?

Chris Hero seems like a natural jokester, so if he did get in touch with the WWE, I think he would play it close to the chest (although he'd obviously tell ROH). I think the rumours come more about from people wanting to see him signed, more than anything. The WWE are trying to take stars that would not only fit the WWE, but also be major blows to ROH. So with that being said, I think Austin Aries, Tyler Black (despite him still growing as a worker), Davey Richards and even the tag team guys like The Briscoes, Kevin Steen and even El Generico are more likely to receive offers than Hero -- who has been relatively underused compared to others.

Delirious is another that I could see being offered a deal. The WWE have apparently expressed interest in him before, and if Festus does get a character change soon, I can see the WWE giving the "bell ringing" shtick to Deli. Plus, isn't he like the head trainer at the ROH Wrestling Academy? That would cause ROH to make some big changes.
