Okay, I heard a radio ad for this and they're talking how scary it is and the tagline is "Don't See It Alone." Looked it up on IMDB, read reviews, read message boards, everyoen says they can't sleep after seeing it. I don't know if I'll end up seeing it, but will anybody else?

If so, spoil it for me. What's so scary about it?

From what I hear its basically about ghosts Blair Witch style......

Ive heard good things but I probably wont see it.

I've heard it's one of those rare horror movies that's actually scary.

I'll be finding out soon, since I'm going to see it tonight

It looks like somebody turned on a justin.tv webcam and you watch it for two hours and occasionally some stuff happens.

you saw it?

No, just from the ads. Half of the ads show the audience being terrified. I'm always skeptical at that, but I guess they want to keep the mystique of it being really scary for being made so cheaply.

The audience is most likely fake. IE I went to a few Comedy special tapings and they ask laudience to go crazy in laughter and do different shit to get our reactions.

It got its million votes, nationwide release on the 16th. 1 week ahead of Saw 6 which ensures it will only do about a week of business.

I really hate the Saw movies. Maybe they'll stop at 7, considering they started as pretty much a rip off of S7ven anyways.

I thought it was a very good horror movie. Probably doesn't lend itself to repeat viewing but a great experience. Really interesting and often genuinely scary

Yea it's definitely better that they didn't show or reveal anything from the movie. I was very interested the whole time because I went in knowing nothing.

It's not just a camera in a bedroom where things occassionally happen either. That's part of it, but not all.

So...whats so scary about it?

Somebody I know is in the States atm and went to see this, says it is ridic scary. But he is gay and very effeminate. So it could really go either way.

I don't get very scared at movies anymore, so I wasn't ridiculously scared, but I can recognize how scary it was. It definitely scared me at times, and more so than any movie I can remember seeing for a long long time.
The premise began to scare me more and more as time went on, after the movie.

I don't really see the point in me explaining the details of how and why it was scary, since that's something to be experienced. If you want to see it just see it.

Scare factor aside, I think the movie would keep just about anyone engaged and interested throughout, so long as they're not spoiled.

this movie is right up my ally. I love these types of horror films. Much like Blair Witch, Cloverfield and Quarantine.

The ouija board lights the table on the fire but they don't mention it at all. They're just like oh, it tried to write a message. Was kinda hilarious. Bunch of dumbass people in the theatre didn't realize it was fictional even after it ended.

I really wasn't scared through the whole movie.

I looked for a torrent, but apparently this movie was made in 2007 and has a different ending then the one in theaters. Can't find the current version anywhere yet.

It was alright.....then the ending happened

This I agree with. I saw it a few days before it was released nationwide. And I enjoyed it for the most part, and it definitely had its scary moments. But the ending, and even some of the crowd I saw it with ruined it for me. There was a bunch of teenyboppers that were loud during portions of the movie and took away some of the tension. But I hated the ending the most, I was worried by how much it was buiding that it wouldnt be able to deliver on the finish. And it just seemed to end abruptly to me.

I looked it up after I got home and apparently the movie has several different endings...

One was the one used in the movie.
Katie comes back up to the room by herself with a knife and slits her own throat.
Katie comes back by herself and sits by the bed for a couple days. While she's sitting her friend calls, wondering where they are. Then the next day she comes to the house and finds Micah's body and calls the cops. The cops come in and search the house and find Katie sitting on the floor with the knife. She gets up confused, not knowing what's going on, cops end up shooting her. Film ends with a dedication to the couple, as opposed to the card about his body and her whereabouts.

Either of the other two we're better, IMO. The third one is on YouTube actually.

Edit: Found it, spoilers obviously: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRakKcpkxqU

Yeah, those other endings sound much better due to taking the "superhuman strength" out of the equation. I expected it to end with her just walking back into the room covered in blood and getting back into bed. I guess they added the throw across the room to give the audience one last jump.

I wouldn't have even minded the super-throw that much if it weren't for the fact that right after that, she tried to eat the camera like she'd just done a Criss Angel magic trick.

A friend from work watched it and apparently he said he didn't sleep for three days or something and ended up calling in sick coz he couldn't work.

I haven't seen it yet but I definitely have to now. :y:

I found it humorous that it's like ''OH GOD, THERE'S A DEMON IN THE BEDROOM'', yet they can go to sleep perfectly fine.

That's a pretty extreme reaction but I have to admit, I was reminded of it every time I went downstairs in the dark.

True.

I found it funny how every time there was an occurance Micah (the guy) would yell "What is that?" or "Who's there!?". Surely it was pretrt obvious after a while that it was the fucking demon that's terrorised you for the past month (or however long).
