View Full Version : How does this sound after the Bragging Rights Ironman match? *Raw Spoilers*

I know a lot of people are against the Ironman match between Randy Orton and John Cena, but I feel it could be a great match. This match has a nice flow with the feud, to me it seem meaningful, but that is not what I want to talk about.
With the stipulations being that if Cena loses he must leave Raw, how about making him lose and go to Smackdown. I know most people here are against that, but he goes to Smackdown, he can challenge for the belt here and there, and continue his rivalry with Batista.
While he is on Smackdown, around December, he as run ins with The Undertaker. Little things backstage, eliminating him from the Rumble, and then The Undertaker gets fed up with Cena and starts playing mind games with Cena, and that eventually leads to Cena challenging the streak at Wrestlemania 26.
I don't know about anyone else, but the idea of The Undertaker v John Cena at Wrestlemania 26 really excites me. This is possibly The Undertakers last match against the top guy in the company. The crowd would go crazy for it, it would be very easy to promote. The fans at Wrestlemania 26 would go wild for it ala Wrestlemania 18 Rock v Hogan, but better.
I actually it would surprise fans with who wins.
Thoughts?

Why not?
I don't want to see the abomination of Batista vs. Cena and I damn well don't want to see Cena vs Taker at Mania. ESPECIALLY with the prospect of Jericho vs Taker.

Taker v Cena could be great. I know Cena is not a favorite around here, and I am not a fan of him as well, but the guy can step it up when he needs to and Taker would make him. Look at Taker v Batista at WM23, it was match of the year.
I know the prospect of Taker v Jericho is great and everyone wants it to happen, but I really believe the atmosphere would be great for Taker Cena, and this is a type of match that would sell it self.
As long as Taker goes over and it ISN'T for a title, I'd be fine with it. Otherwise, absolutely not.

I wouldn't want it for the title, I would like it to be just like HBK Taker this past year.

It's impossible for a Cena Match to be that great.
Very few matches could be that great.

I meant non title like.
Also, I think the Cena Taker match would be hard to predict because wouldn't you think if WWE was going to end the streak it would be Cena to break it?
The Gold Standard

I mean he probably wouldn't win, but the thought in the back of your mind is, well Cena has done everything else, it wouldn't surprise me if he stopped the streak too.

I try and stay optimistic about everything in WWE. It seems to backfire on me a lot.

The Iron Man could be good. It could also be god awful. I agree that it flows with the feud, but after all of the gimmick matches between the two, this just makes it seem like they are being thrown into different types of matches to see if one comes off well.
I like the prospect of Cena going to SD! and being that top face (though it's still Taker's show for sure). Even though they already have a big name there in Batista, he's not in the title scene so it wouldn't seem like the main event is cluttered as it is on RAW. Plus, it would give Orton a chance to take on the up and comers on the red brand.

TGS, I'd be ok with this. Mainly because no matter who wins the iron man match, we are assured to never see Cena/Orton again. Whether Cena goes to Smackdown or Orton can't face Cena for the title. Both are good to me. Of course that just opens the gates to the obvious HHH/Cena or HHH/Orton. None the less, while I wouldn't mind seeing Taker/Cena at WM26, I don't think it'll happen. Mainly because should this be Taker's last WM, and with the speculation he'd be facing Jericho, I'd be more for him facing Jericho and having the 2 of them just put on a match the likes neither has ever had before. Hell, make it a casket match for all I care. The only real upside to a Cena/Taker WM match, is you'd already be assured who was going to win.
Spoiler: It's not Cena.!
Just my 2 cents.
another "what if...? thread ffs
If there weren't threads like this, we'd have a forum full of polls/competitions and spoilers. That'd be far more tedious. I personally have no problem with this thread, at least it's not another anti-Cena/anti-the-way-Randy-Orton-walks-bitchfest or a hilarious attempt at being a sock.
As for the thread itself, I'm not sure on the quality of the Ironman match. Could really go either way. Should be 30 minutes instead of 60, with the no rules stip. I wouldn't mind Cena going to Smackdown though. Even a small amount of something different is gonna be fresh for him atm because of how stale he is. Cena/Batista is one of the remaining programs involving established top guys that hasn't really been done before barring a few weeks last summer. Considering their match wasn't completely awful and to a degree had a 'big match aura' to it, I don't mind them going short term again. Be a lot more interesting if one was heel though.
I'd have no problem with Cena/Taker either. It'd be fresh and a Mania live audience would eat it up and on that stage, they'd do well together. Once again, be more interesting with a heel.
Also, both of these scenarios (providing Taker isn't holding the belt going into Mania, which I doubt) would keep Cena out of the World title picture for a while, which would also be welcome.

So they can do a Cena/Orton tuxedo match at Survivor Series. Just in case.:shifty:

I agree. I don't think a 60-minute match between these two will go over well at all.

I felt this way, too. It really felt like a "clash of the titans" when Cena and Bats went at it (despite the lack of build for their SummerSlam bout). I think for them to have a legit feud (i.e. long term) though, one of them would have to be heel.

Against Taker at Mania, I don't think Cena would really need to be a heel. The crowd will pretty much be behind him, making Cena the heel by default. It would go over better if he was actually heel, though.
Also, both of these scenarios (providing Taker isn't holding the belt going into Mania, which I doubt) would keep Cena out of the World title picture for a while, which would also be welcome.
:y: These days, everyone needs to step away from the title picture for a little while.

I'd be ok with Cena vs Batista for Wrestlemania, but not Cena vs Taker. Ideally Jericho vs Taker for Wrestlemania and then maybe have Batista vs Rey Mysterio for the World Heavyweight title (that may sound bad but I think with the right buildup that match on the big stage could be awesome)

My favorite theory for the outcome of this match has Orton, at the opening bell, summoning the entire RAW roster to beat down Cena and help him get him gone from the show, embarrassing Cena by knocking him out of an Iron Man Match in under 10 minutes. This would effectively turn the entire RAW roster heel, leading to Smackdown backing Cena (plus some strategic "trades" of guys like Kofi, Punk, Jericho, and Bourne to the opposite show), and set up a new Invasion kind of angle with Raw, led by Orton, Punk, Michaels, and HHH feuding with Smackdown led by Cena, Taker, Batista and company (maybe bring over Christian, too?).
It'll never happen, but it would rule. (Even though it makes the draft useless, but at this point in the year, that's probably gonna happen anyway.)

I really like the idea of Cena going to Smackdown!, however there would then be a big hole in the roster on Raw, nobody could really step up on Raw and take Cena's spot other than DX, and they have their own spot. SO I do think Cena will win the iron man match. Also, I like the idea of him going against Taker at Wrestlemania. If the time is right there wouldn't be a better way to turn him heel just like they did with Bret at WM 13.

Meh, I'd rather just see one of them win and then move on to another contender.
