Yeah it's old now, but I just picked it up for 20 bucks, and had to comment on it.

This game is FUN.

If you brushed this off as a gta clone like I did when it came out, do yourself a favor and check it out. Granted it's still a gta clone, but it's an incredibly awesome one. It's as if all the fun that was sacrificed for realism in gta 4, went into this game. I think the cover system and the detailed enviornments and visuals are all GTA has on this game.

There are a shit ton of weapons here, customizable vehicles, way more entertaining side missions, the ability to use human shields(and throw said human shield through a 20-story high window) and tons of other stuff too numerous to count.

There is just sooooooo much to do in this game. Having so much fun with it.

Also, I know there was a third one planned. Has there been any news on it?

I just put my eye on it. Got a craving for GTA type gaming, so I ordered Crackdown and put SR2 on my list. Gonna wait till it's a bit cheaper to Goozex. Right now it's at $25.

Saw a guy on Justin.Tv playing it and I thought it was GTA at first. You can customize your character to look how you want it right?

Yeah. You can also customize your gang as well, although not as thoroughly as your character.

I'm still playing the game, and I got it at launch. I like it that much. So I might be biased. It's my fave sandboxer in a long time, with Crackdown being rather close on its heels.

There's three DLC packs. One's free, which gives you new styles and the like, one deals with Dex and is likely where SR3 is going, and one deals with a porn star/biologists. The last one I mentioned is the earliest and most expensive, and you get the least out of it, though you do get infinite RPGs, and the second one is less expensive with more content.

There's talk 50 Cent may be in SR3, because he's gonna be in the movie. However, that's about it. So far, the only real comment they've given us is that SR3 will take the game in a new direction. I hope they don't stip the soul out of the game in the process, because this game built on a decent game and made a great sequel.

Yeah, read about the "new direction" comment and it makes me a bit nervous. Hope they don't go the "realistic" route with it, because it's over the top nature is what separated it from gta 4. I hope it just means a brand new city, or something else that won't effect the core of the game.

Kinda surprised you hold crackdown in such high esteem tbh. Not that it isn't fun, but there's far less to do in that game, and prototype and infamous both do the superhero sandbox game way better. The fact that the "go here and kill this guy" mission is the only type there is, kind of killed it for me a bit. Still looking forward to crackdown 2 tho.

Yeah the mission system in Crackdown sucked, but I loved the ability to level agility and shit. that was my fav thing to do, just jump on all the buildings and shit.

Infamous is pretty terrible and Prototype is nice, but pulluing down helicopters gets boring faster than sniping someone from half the city away.

I loved infamous. Frankly I thought it was better than prototype. Good day to you sir.

I got bored with it pretty fast. Prototype isn't like, an amazing game, but I liked the diversity of powers, such as it was, more than the electricity focus with limited applications of Infamous. I'd rather have unrealistic leaps, rather than the "parkouring" we had in Infamous, and while I liked certain added elements to it, overall, I'd rather whipfist shit.

Also, I hated spending most of the game time hiding from assholes who were apparently able to spot and snipe you from behind cover, at greater range than fucking lightning can travel. Compare that to blowing up military bases, calling in airstrikes, and throwing tanks at hives....
