I was looking at the greatness of El Dandy (who are you to doubt El Dandy?) and I came across this match against David Flair. Nobody can deny that the only reason David was there was because of his father and he will never be seen as anything more than that. I wanted to ask with all the next gen stars out there, do you think there is any of them that can be a main eventer without Daddy pulling all the strings?

I think that Ted Dibiase Jr. might be able to get over without reminding us who his father is. Also, as far as FCW goes I think that Wes Brisco and the Rotundos (they need more training but they could be a solid long term tag team) could be future stars.

you have to feel for david flair though, i mean look at the boots he has to fill, it might have been better for david not to mention that he is ric flairs son and just roll with crowbar and daffney

Horrible match... David Flair used to steal ice pops out of my brothers fridge in college... True story... Crack Ice thief... Daffney was the only decent thing in David's brief career...

I want to say Randy Orton since he appears to being a bigger star or at least have a better future career than his father did. At the same time, his father did help him get noticed or get a job with the WWE so in a way its possible he doesn't become as "over" without the early family connections.

If you mean new wrestlers in last couple of years then Ted Jr appears to have the best chance.

I think part of the reason why Ted Jr. (and indeed Ted Sr.) got over without help from Daddy is because he can work. It's because he can talk. He wasn't thrown in there as "this is my boy," outside of Sr.'s introducing him.

He did train under the tutelage of Harley Race, which is the unofficial WWE Developmental territory (all of the DiBiase boys have worked there IIRC, Joe Hennig was sent there by Shane McMahon). Between these guys and Trevor Rhodes, who was only really held back by his gut, Harley seems to have a pretty good track record considering how long the school has been in operation. Personally, they should drop FCW altogether and use WLW as the official territory.

How has David Flair never become a world champion?

If by huge you mean fat and out of shape like his dad then yeah.

He does this, because no one knows who is Dad is.

Every second/third generation superstar gets the obligatory mention that that is what they are even if you didn't know/wanted to forget who their father was.

crazy david flair was the best gimmick, and it also meant that devon storm got a little bit of a push

I don't think you can consider Randy Orton, Ted, Jr, or Cody Rhodes for this. Even if they aren't explicitly dropping their fathers' names, the very concept of Legacy is based on the fact that they are multi-generation wrestlers.
