So I decided to go ahead and upgrade to vista then upgrade to 7 . But it will not let me upgrade to vista . It says it's disabled because I need to either delete or rename C:/ProgramData. I tried the microsoft site and other forums. It won't let me do either. I have tried making backups of it . But honestly have no idea how to do this properly with the backup utility. Any help is greatly appreciated guys thankyou .
Vista needs to be a clean install in order to upgrade to 7. It can't be an upgraded Vista.
Maybe Windows 7 isn't for you.

Yeah, just do a fresh install of Windows 7. Why would you not want to anyways?
I will hate to do it, as I have countless things on my PC that I will probably forget about.. but I will enjoy having a clean PC for a couple months until shit piles up again.

Sounds like your computer is a mess. I'd strongly recommend backing up all your shit and wipe that fucker clean.
