View Full Version : WWE SmackDown Taping Results (10/30) *Spoilers*
*The show opens up with Teddy Long in the ring congratulating Team Smackdown on winning at Bragging Rights. He says that later on tonight Rey Mysterio and Batista will have a heart to heart to discuss what happened at the PPV. He talks about the title match at Survivor Series and is interrupted by Chris Jericho. Jericho says he should get the title shot, not Big Show. Long says the Bragging Rights trophy is the property of Smackdown and takes it away from Jericho. Kane interrupts and says he deserves a title shot since he was co-captain. Jericho argues with Kane, who starts choking him. Long tells Kane to let Jericho go, and he does. Long says if Raw is going to have a triple threat title match, so is Smackdown. Tonight it will be Kane vs. Jericho, and the winner gets put into the title match at Survivor Series.
*WWE Intercontinental champ Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler. Dolph tells Morrison that he's the only member of the SD roster that lost at Bragging Point (yes, he called it Bragging Point) and Morrison says he doesn't recall seeing Dolph actually have a match. Ziggler wins by countout after dropping Morrison on the SD announce table.
*Backstage Vince McMahon congratulates Teddy Long on winning at Bragging Rights. CM Punk comes in and says he should be in the title match at Survivor Series and that he'd still be champ if it wasn't for Scott Armstrong's shoddy officiating. Vince agrees with Punk and says tonight Punk will have a match against Scott Armstrong. Punk loves the idea and thanks Vince.
*Beth Phoenix defeated a girl, I've never heard of before, sounded like they said Janie Butch. Beth was cheered by the crowd.
*Announced for later tonight: Cryme Tyme presents a Divas Halloween costume contest.
*Vickie Guerrero comes out dressed like a princess. She says she wants to introduce everyone to her Prince Charming, Eric Escobar. He has a match against Matt Hardy, which Hardy wins.
*Rey Mysterio is shown backstage walking to the ring, his heart to heart with Batista is next.
*Rey Mysterio comes out and talks about what happened at Bragging Rights. He says that he considers Batista family and he's not leaving the ring until they talk about it like men. Batista comes out and asks Rey how dare he call him out. Rey says he just wants to straighten things out, Batista tells him he's giving him a chance to leave the ring. Rey refuses to leave and tells Batista that it was a Fatal 4 Way, did he not expect him to try to win? He says Batista is like his big brother and he's willing to let bygones be bygones, that if he had known being in the match was going to interfere with their friendship, he would have never been in the match. Batista gives Rey one last chance to leave the ring, Rey won't go. Rey says to think about everything they've been through, to think about Eddy. Batista says 'Eddy's dead', that he's not thinking about Rey, he's thinking about himself. Batista leaves the ring and walks off.
*Backstage, Matt Hardy approaches Batista and tells him to think about what he's doing. There are things he did to Jeff that he wishes he could take back but he can't, and that Rey and Batista really are family. Batista walks off and Matt turns around and starts texting on his cell phone, Batista comes up from behind and attacks him.
*Drew McIntyre comes out and says he didn't want to be a part of Team Smackdown to begin with, as he will be making his own impact. He says the party is over for his opponent. Finlay comes out but Drew attacks him as he stepped on the apron. Drew beats him down. The match never officially happened. Refs comes out to help Finlay.
*The Halloween costume contest is next.
*Cryme Tyme comes out to host the Divas Halloween costume contest. The 4 divas involved were Natalya (dressed as a Matador), Layla (dressed as Michael Jackson), Michelle McCool (dressed as a devil) and Mickie James (dressed as Elektra). Each Diva does a quick routine, Mickie is picked as the winner based on crowd response. She gets attacked by the other divas but is able to take down Layla and Natalya, but McCool gets a kick to the back of Mickie's head in. McCool walks off.
*CM Punk defeated Scott Armstrong with the GTS. Match of the year candidate (not really).
*Chris Jericho pinned Kane with the Code Breaker to gain entry into the World championship bout at the Survivor Series.

No Taker or Big Show? Seems kinda odd for them not to be on.

K that Batista/Rey/Matt promo sounds fucking incredible. This Batista heel turn was sooooo long overdue.

Bragging Point? Man, they are on a role this week.
This overall sounds like a solid SD. Jericho vs Taker vs Show at SS sounds amazing. They only have 2 matches and 2 matches rumored to happen that should, Orton/Kofi, and Rey/Batista. SD still is the better show and this here shows why.

I think all that hugging finally got into Rey's head. He started to call Batista "family" and something about thinking of all the stuff they've been through. I bet he just wanted another hug from Batista while Batista played the "no homo" card. :shifty:
 at Morrison's counter to what Ziggler said especially how a week before Ziggler was set to be in the ppv.

Hopefully that doesn't bite Ziggler in the ass too badly.
Sounds like a really good show, actually. I'm curious as to who this new Diva is that faced Beth Phoenix. I would mark out for a Beth face turn, even though it seems like Mickie James is going to be the next challenger for the Women's Title.
I'm actually feeling that with Batista now pissing off Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy, that we will see Batista and Rey head opposing teams at Survivor Series. The same goes with Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston on RAW. Add that to the Triple Threat main events, and the card is shaping up.

That's what I'm thinking. Because they are pretty much consistently on the big cards, I think CM Punk and Kane will join Batista on a team against Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy and one or two other faces. Maybe Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre to fill out the heel side, while John Morrison, Finlay and R-Truth pad out the face side?
I see a similar thing happening on RAW, with Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase on a team against Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry & Evan Bourne. I could see Jack Swagger & The Miz being on the same heel side, but for some reason, I could also see either Swagger or The Miz joining the face side, and adding some "intrigue" to their "rivalry." In that case, I could see Sheamus being added to the heel side. So we could end up with Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase, The Miz & Sheamus vs. Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, Jack Swagger & Evan Bourne.

I agree. So that leaves ECW which the only thing I see is Regal, Koslov, Jackson, Ryder, Burchill vs Christian, Dreamer, Goldust, Yoshi, Hurricane

Now that Sheamus is off the roster, I think this is a likely scenario. It'll be darn good to see Paul Burchill make a PPV. I could see the added stipulation that if Regal's team wins, he can contend for the ECW Title again. It'd be even better to see Paul Burchill get a technical victory on PPV.
And for some reason, I could see Shelton Benjamin being the Special Guest Referee for the match. I miss that guy doing stuff. I'd actually like to see him challenge for the ECW Title at TLC, as it is his sort of environment. Maybe do a Ladder Match with Christian defending the ECW Title against William Regal, Shelton Benjamin, Paul Burchill, Yoshi Tatsu and Zack Ryder?

That match would be very entertaining. With Ryder and Yoshi alone it would be off the chart, then add the experience (in a ladder match) of Christian and Shelton, damn.
Plus I would just like to see more of the ECW guys get PPV time

Paul Burchill would do some amazing stuff, too. I'd really like to see him a clusterfuck Ladder Match at some point in his WWE tenure. Also, the heat for William Regal steadily climbing the ladder while everyone has taken themselves out would be awesome.

I'd like to see the match booked like this:
* Ezekiel Jackson follows William Regal's orders, and gets himself disqualified using a steel chair or something, to weaken the face team.
* Tommy Dreamer, who was the legal man during Jackson's rampage, is pinned by an opportunistic William Regal.
* The Hurricane is pinned by William Regal after Burchill sneaks in and hits him with a Twisted Sister.
* Vladimir Kozlov is pinned by Yoshi Tatsu after a Falcon Kick from Tatsu to Kozlov, proving Tatsu's pure fighting ability.
* Paul Burchill is eliminated by Christian after a Killswitch.
* Yoshi Tatsu finds himself tapping out to a Regal Stretch after Zack Ryder sneaks in with a roughrider leg lariat.
* Goldust enters to try and get some revenge for his protoge in Tatsu, but finds himself tripped up by Regal's heel tactics, and he gets a Knee Trembler, eliminating him. So far William Regal has eliminated everyone from the face team.
* The final fall sees Zack Ryder pin Christian after Regal is setting up for a Knee Trembler, but Ryder blind tags himself in, and gets the Zack Attack for the pin. Ryder steals Regal's final pin, and the two continue their tension as they build towards TLC.

I don't think the mention of Eddie was unnessicary. Everyone knows that Batista, Rey and Eddie were close friends. It was just furthering the point of Rey's pleading with Batista. And in response, Batista saying 'Eddies dead' just means the past is the past, and he only cares about himself. Basically puts him forward as a cold badass.
As long as Eddie isn't used as the centre of the story and not mentioned again, then I'm fine with it.
But please, no more Eddiesploitation Seriously Let the man rest in peace theyve done everything but dance on his grave.
Though lord of darkness raises a good point

This is a little off topic but am I the only one who feels its dumb to have CM Punk chasing the title and chasing UT no less,I cant understand why they dont just book Punk as a cocky cowardly heel theyve booked Triple H as a coward before and hes 6'4 and fucking jacked.

Dolph Ziggler looked really good in his match against John Morrison. The ending saw Morrison hit the Flying Chuck for two, as Ziggler got his outside leg on the ropes. Morrison then set up for Starship Pain, but Ziggler rolled out before Morrison even went for the move. A pescado attempt by Morrison was scouted by Ziggler, but JoMo landed on the ring apron safely, only for Ziggler to sweep his feet out with a chop block-style maneuver. The countout then started, and Ziggler got Morrison up in a wheelbarrow, and then slammed him down onto the announce table, before sliding into the ring and dropping his "Count it!" line, and looking all deranged. Morrison gave an awkward promo implying that Ziggler was "premature" with Maria before the match. I love Ziggler's reverse powerslam move, for the record.
The girl Beth Phoenix wrestled was an African-American girl named "Jenny Brooks," who Matt Striker informed us was the only hiccough in Phoenix's amateur wrestling ventures in the north-east; giving them somewhat of a history. He also implied that she was a kickboxer. God, I love Striker. He was playing more of a heel commentator tonight, too. Phoenix was great picking up the easy win, too, by the way. She does cocky well.
Vickie Guerrero is still getting great heat. It seems the commentators are being instructed to focus on whether or not Escobar and Vickie are together out of "love" or not. Pretty much the same as all of Vickie's relationship storylines. Matt Hardy hurt his leg on a moonsault (which did hit successfully), and Escobar worked over the knee, only for Hardy to his the Twist of Fate out of nowhere (without the kick or the posing, etc.) which played up on the veteran insticts vs. youthful exuberance Striker was talking about earlier in the match. So it seems that Hardy vs. Escobar is not really done yet, as Hardy's win was less than decisive.
That's all I've watched of SmackDown! so far. Oh, but CM Punk did a really great job in his backstage segment with Vince and Teddy. He asked for another title shot, and Vince said "No, how many chances do you get?" Where was he when Batista was challenging all the time?
