Okay so if anyone hasn't noticed I have been on a Stan Hansen tip lately and I figured this guy is one of my favourite guys to watch, old or new. His style still holds true to today, he's had great matches with Curt Hennig, Rick Martel, Vader, Kenta Kobashi, Misawa, Andre the Giant, Steve Williams and the list goes on. He's tagged with Hogan, Bruiser Brody, Terry Gordy etc.

His style is hard and uncompromising... he is one of the stiffest fuckers that's ever wrestled. He honestly makes Regal vs. Finaly look like child's play. He could move really fucking fast especially for a guy who was over 300 pounds.

His promo work was unbelievable as well, he really lived in his gimmick and a wild unhinged redneck. His ringwork and his interviews were truly representative of that. He moved like a bloodthirsty wild fuck, he talked like one, acted like one. He was all about the craft.

In this thread, we sing his praises and post videos of Stan "The Lariat" Hansen, the baddest man in wrestling history.

Highspots has a 'Stan Hansen' dvd collection for about 25$. I would recomend it for anyone.

One of the best big men of all time. His matches against kawada, misawa, kobashi and vader were epic.

Stan Hansen was certainly a legend. The problem with him though is he never really was a star in the states. He did win the AWA Title once and the WCW US Title once, but only stuck around for 1-2 months during both those times. I think he could of became much bigger in wrestling if he had a good run in the States. He's definately the man in Japan though

Japan was more welcoming to his style. Don't know if America could have possibly contained that raging lunatic.

Also, him being in Japan was kind of his gimmick if you think about it... he just went all around the world beating on people.

Stan Hansen Spanking Missy Hyatt was something. Thats oddly the only thing I remember..and its not on youtube..

I think what I like most about Hansen as I said before is the fact that he wrestles his gimmick. Everything he does, is something that seems Stan Hansen would do. This day, guys are billed as a something and don't wrestle as such. Orton is supposed to be this vicious viper, but apart from after Legacy beats the shit out of someone for him and they are beaten down and he kicks them in the head, he just wrestles like any other chicken shit heel. He isn't vicious other then when it is contrived.

John Cena is another example, he is supposed to be a super badass, but he doesn't do anything different than any other super babyface. He gets beat on, he comes back with highly un intense offense and then does some cookie cutter moves. It's so blechhhh

Back in the day guys were allowed to establish a character in the ring. A guy like Bret Hart moved like the hit man, Roddy Piper brawled like a loose cannon, Savage moved like the madness etc.

Stan Hansen I'd say was the best at being mean though.

This paragraph reflects 50% of what's wrong with the business today. Good job Dale!
