so i managed to thief this off mininova, so i have more time to learn the songs before i see them live THIS SATURDAY. woo.

it's pretty unusual in that i know 3 of the songs, and one of them was the soundtrack to summer 2008. makes it difficult to judge it as a whole too. i think you can tell they toured with bloc party for a while, that influence shines through a fair amount, without being too obvious or un-biffy.

my favourite track out of those you probably wouldn't already know (captain, that golden rule and mountains) is probably bubbles, right now. boom blast and ruin is cool too though, and probably the most energetic straight ahead rock song apart from golden rule.

the album as a whole sounds a bit different, tonally this is really different to the stuff they've done before. the bass sounds different, the drums seem a little quieter in the mix.

overall i like it. there are some really catchy songs on the album, although i can see why your old school ultra "everything new is rubbish" fans might balk a bit. it's a lot lighter than previous work with a lot more clean guitar type stuff. at least they didn't run with the horn section thing from the captain, that would have killed the album for me.

I was looking in HMV and saw that they released a 'Singles' album from the past few albums, was gonna pick it up because it was dirt cheap.
Still need to listen to the new album, seems like only yesterday that they have been around since but the first time I saw them was 2002.

You will love the horns. I will make you love them. :(

Don't do it, it's full of radio edits and was only released by their old label as a cash in. You'd be as well just downloading it.

I have most of the songs on my IPod but the quality on some of them isn't the best. '57' was the first Biffy song I heard, I remember reading the review of it in Kerrang magazine, I was 16 at the time though.

Got to see them at Reading 2002 though , which was awesome, packed out tent.
