I wasn't sure whether to put this in Movies/TV or VG, but I figure more people here will be interested in it.

------

Reuters is reporting that John Woo has bought the rights to the video game franchise, Metroid, and will produce a movie based on it.

The game is about a female warrior named Samus Aran who uses a super powered suit to battle energy sapping metroids and the evil Mother Brain.

Woo could also end up directing the film.

I can't see this being anything more than an anime at best.

If it's live action there will be so much cgi that it'll end up like Final Fantasy:SWI, and we all know how that movie did at the box office.

Yeah, I'd check it out... same if someone made a Metal Gear Solid movie. that would rock.

Honestly I think they are going a little over board with the game to movie stuff. They rarely seem to get it right. It seems for every right one there is fifty bad ones. Or one really bad one (House of the Dead im looking at you here)

Does anyone have any info on Dead To Rights, btw? I heard Nicolas Cage would be playing the lead role (Jack Slate). IMO, they should have gone with someone younger and more adept at martial arts.

And a Metal Gear Solid Movie would be the shit.

Nic Cage is definently a little to old to be playing that role now. I just cant picture him in it. I have heard that they are trying to plan a MGS movie. Right now I believe some company is trying to get the rights for it but hopefully when it comes out it will all be good.
