Oh how ECW has changed, but this isnt really ECW so go figure. Anyways, this is one of the last matches for Balls and Sandman in the WWE. Do you think that if WWE had kept Sandman and Balls on there ECW brand, do you think they could have been able to add something like Dreamer has? I was a fan of the ECW originals, but if you take away Sandman's singapore cane and Balls Mahoney's chair you got nothing (the two of them arent known for there in ring wrestling ability).

Could the ECW originals added anything.... what.

Sandman and dreamer could have been good as a tag team. They were when the new ecw debuted, anyway. RVD obviously could. Besides that, I'd say tajiri is the only other one who can still bring something to the table at this point.
Heyman's run as booker of the new ecw was the last time I truly enjoyed wrestling, btw.

Two words for you...PG Rating....with that said and with this being Vince McMahon's ECW, not Paul Heyman's incarnation of a beast called ECW, the answer is no.
The ECW originals have no place in the WWE's version of ECW because the WWE could not let them be themselves and work their gimmicks the way they were intended which is raw, uncut, and a direct reflection of the person behind the character/gimmick in the ring. The only thing that having the Orginals around when ECW was revived was give Vince a stockpile of names commonly associated with the brand and get people to tune in....once they had served their purpose....they got the pink slips.....minus Tommy Dreamer who is a pale and watered down version of the Tommy Dreamer I remember, but hey the man has mouths to feed and bills to pay so I respect Tommy for doing what Tommy has to do.
The Originals staying out of ECW now is better if you ask me, because it doesn't erase or tarnish the legacy of what ECW originally was and what they did to launch the company into the world of mainstream wrestling. ECW in its original incarnation was a stepping stone and revolution for new alternatives in pro wrestling. I would like to think if I was associated with revolutionizing something and paving the way for an industry to change, I wouldn't want to do anything that would mar or tarnish that legacy.

Probably only the Sandman and Sabu since they used them the most during the initial WWE-run ECW brand. They tried Sabu for a while in the title scene but refused to let him win the title but it did sort of help the Big Show be the main "bad guy" at the time.
The PG push for all the brands realistically meant neither were going to stay unless they got watered down even more.

I'm not going to be arsed to watch videos and read silly posts about who could have helped or changed what....
I'm here, up in arms, to defend the great ECW.
The original ECW is dead. Obviously. It was wonderful and colorful and had a perfect niche for the era. The problem was they wanted to expand and be more than what they were. Be it Paul E's inability to handle money, or the fact that the market for extreme sports wasn't at the cusp of cool at the time, whatever the case was, ECW is no more.
I knocked "new" ECW for a long while but have come to appreciate it for what it is for. It obviously took them quite some time to figure out what the product was aiming for, but right now I feel they have hit an amazing stride.
Instead of being home to RAW & Smackdwon rejects, it is basically a glorified training center for young up and comers to create and mold their character & ability. The talents they have right now are the future of the sport.
Instead of searching the net for FCW videos to check out the next crop of talents, we have a showcase on a major TV station giving it to us, for free, every week.
The fact that the show is still called ECW may bother some, but it is obviously being kept around for name value only. I have also gotten used to that & could care less. They could rename it or whatever, but the fact remains that it is now an on-air breeding ground for the talent of the future.....and I love it.

You would be rather stupid to argue that the ECW Originals could not add anything to ECW today.
All of them could bring something to the table. When the WWE: ECW TV show began it had ratings in the 2.0 scale. Now the ratings float around the 1.0's and are sometimes even lower than TNA's.
I think the facts speak for themselves.

When the ECW show began there were massive hardons to see something that reminded people of the old ECW. ECW originals are only a ratings boost when they've been away for a while.
I still wish they had named the current ECW show "Superstars" and featured ECW as a faction on Raw and Smackdown.
Then of course the show currently called Superstars would probably be "WWE Challenge" or something...

If Rhino ever left TNA, I think that "Rhyno" would make a great addition to the WWE's ECW. I'd like to see an angle where he Gored the shit out of anyone he wanted, and claimed to be the last "true ECW Champion."
If Lance Storm and Tajiri were still keen to work for the WWE, then I think they would be awesome additions, too. And while it might be "downgrading" them, if Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio returned to ECW, and cut promos about their loyalty to the brand, and how they want to be there, it would add gravity to their shows.
A lot of the "iconic" ECW Orignals were part of ECW's attitude, though, and with the brand evolving, they don't really fit like they used to.

The non-newbies ECW cares to have around are complimentary wrestlers that can work a good match with even the greenest of guys. Could Sandman, Sabu or Ballz do that? NO. NO they cannot. They are fun niche wrestlers & thankfully THIS ECW has moved into a more future-driven & stable direction.
