Why was/is Dana in the UK??
Not gonna say for sure but maybe, at a stretch guessing, something to do with the UFC PPV over here in 4 days

Only Dana White related news I want to hear about is him getting his mouth bolted shut.
He's done a lot of good for MMA to be sure, but more than half of the people under contract with UFC live like fucking hobos just to get by. And he says stupid shit that fucks up contract negotiations (fedor, anyone?).
I swear every other post I see from you in this forum is bitching about Dana

I don't know where to start with how stupid this whole post is.
So I won't.
For now.

Yes, I AM critical of Dana White. It's hard for me not to be. He reminds me of Vince McMahon in many ways, and many of them are bad ways.
I give him all the credit in the world for what he's done for the UFC, and for MMA as a whole. Some of the things he says and some of the things he does piss me off. I honestly believe he could help out MMA a great deal more if he doesn't constantly publicy criticize the fighters he was trying to negotiate with (see Couture, Randy and Henderson, Dan).
If it makes you feel better, I think Scott Coker is a moron for selling his soul to the Russian Mafia (aka M-1 Global). Even then, I want Strikeforce to succeed. More MMA leads to competition. Competition leads to better fights. Better fights leads to me being a happy MMA fan.
And I'll admit that I do sometimes go overboard on my dislike of Dana White from time to time. No different from people who go overboard on their dislike of other public figures.

My only problem with Dana is that he's essentially a "mark" of his own sport. He seemingly only appreciates fights where the guys are blowing each others heads off. There's much more to the sport than that.

not really. i think he only wants that because he knows that's what is going to bring money and interest to the sport. for someone who has never watched mma before and has no idea about it they're far more likely to be a fan if it's action and big punches and knockouts as opposed to two guys struggling for position on the ground.

Its not even that... he wants to see two guys willing to put it all on the line and try as hard as they can. Whether thats a slugfest or a technical battle where the guys keep a good pace. He hates guys that stand there and do nothing, and guys that are out of shape because it looks like to him they are not taking the fight seriously or trying hard.

i dont know. if guys are standing there doing nothing doesn't mean they aren't taking the fight seriously. if they're hand on knees gassed then yes, i'd be prone to agree, but i guess sometimes you have to respect your opponent more than to just throw punches and hope you get lucky and don't get countered.
if you mean someone like roy nelson then i'd comepletely agree. the fucking gut on that guy is outrageous. lots of guys in TUF this season who i am pretty convinced are really light heavyweights. but if you're going to be fighting heavyweight i suppose it makes sense to be as close to 265 as you can, otherwise you're just going to get thrown around.

well thats what i meant... if you are out of shape you didnt take the fight seriously, and if you are not doing anything, you come off as not tryinmg as hard as you can to win the fight. That doesnt mean it needs to turn into a slugfest, but you at least have to be doing something to show you are trying to win the fight other than circling and scoring points on jabs and lay and pray takedowns.

To comment on roy... watch his fights when hes in actual competition. He puts everything into his fights and fights very well. His gut has nothing to do with his cardio because he has no problem making it through a three round fight. Granted he would have better cardio with out it, but thats irrelevant. He has stated already that hes going to do just enough to win these fights on the show and that is a very intellegent approach. Hes fighting a torunament and he had to fight 3 times in six weeks. lets wait and see how he fights in his last fight.
