Not really...he works for the local FOX Sports station here (does the college sports show)...Every time I see him I laugh because I grew up with him in the WWF and now flatly denies ever working there.

Mooney was the Tony S. of the WWF.

He hated wrestling, made a great amount of money working for a wrestling company, left said company, denies his history with said company, and wants nothing to do with the sport / business he is best known for being associated with.

You say that but didn't he record an interview with them a few years ago? I seem to remember a few talking heads with him a couple of years back that were clearly new, maybe for a Hall of Fame package or Raw highlight show or the ilk.

If they are unhappy with the current announcers, there are much better proven announcers, both play-by-play and colour, to turn to ahead of the bland Sean Mooney.

Hows about reaching out to Jesse Ventura, Paul Heyman, Jim Cornette, Terry Funk, Todd Pettengill, Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson, Mark Madden, Ted DiBiase Sr, Bruce Pritchard, Raven, Stan Lane... hell, give Charlie Minn a call. Anyone but Sean Mooney. I guess they could always bring in his identical twin Ian Mooney.

Plus, they already have Joey Styles, Michael Hayes, Dusty Rhodes, Pat Patterson and Howard Finkel working with them.

Hell, Bobby Heenan would do a better job than Mooney and he can barely talk. If he could talk, he'd do a better job than anyone in the company.

I remember Mooney more as a backstage interviewer than a commentator. Did he use to do WWF Superstars, primetime, Saturday Night or whatever the shows were called back then?

I grew up on Mooney. I bet he would make a great GM. He was my favorite Pencil Necked Geek.

I rather liked Mooney back in the day it's too bad Pat Patterson had to screw it all up for him.

Mooney was great, but he was only great doing the updates on the Superstars/Challenge shows. I thought that was the perfect role for him

He usually did play-by-play with Lord Alfred Hayes on colour. Did Superstars on occasion, if Vince wasn't around for some reason. Quite often commentated on the 'repeat' matches on shows like All-American where a match would be repeated from Superstars or Challenge but with a new VO.

And of course was regularly the commentator (along with Hayes) for the Coliseum Video exclusive matches.

He also hosted Prime Time for a while, and the Update and Event Center segments of the weekly shows.

Sean Mooney was awesome, if I remember right, he came in right after Greg DeGeorge left in like 88 or 89. Mooney has truly got that announcers sounding type of voice.

You're thinking of Update... "from the pages of the WWF Magazine!"

The Event Center was announcements, interviews and cards for upcoming house shows.

I love how someone who is a former employee of WWE shows up at their headquarters and then all of a sudden dirt sheets report that they are returning to the company....anyone ever possibly think they could be interviewing him for a DVD, picking up a royalty check, or even being used as a consultant on something...

I agree with your premise, but are most of those handled in-house?

Anyway, I was hoping it was JR.
