I loved the original as a child. I kind of dig this amazing, but brief, trailer. Thoughts?
Yeah I loved the original mostly because some aspects of it was weird and unique like the owl and skeletons and the Medusa head and stuff like that. But looking at the trailer it has an entirely different feel. Probably only one of the few trailers over the years where I don't spot something I don't like or make me feel like the movie won't be so great.

I wouldnt mind a remake of this just because the effects of the original were so horrible and cheesy.

wow, hell yea. This looks 100x better the the original. You're right, the original was very cheesy, but it's all they could do at the time

The original is cheesy in my opinion..but I heard from many older individuals that for the time it was a great film that for the first time attempted to show the Greek mythological beings in proper film.
But yeah..that trailer is fucking bad ass. I can't wait.

On my second viewing of this trailer it dawns on me that this is the movie The Rock should have starred in.

the only thing missing from the promos:
This movie was merely ok.
The action and CGI were well done. I liked the costumes and whatnot. That was about it for the positives.
As with nearly any of todays blockbuster action flicks, the writing was poor. It also deviated from the original quite often, which in itself doesn't bother me, but the whole poor writing thing didn't help. A lot of bad story decisions were made.
The movie felt pretty empty. It was very actiony with a bit of failed comedy thrown in. There was no suspense or drama. It was difficult to care about anyone or anything.
Maybe it's just the nostalgia talking, but I liked the original better. Just like today's video games, I don't think the focus should be on the visuals.

saw this yesterday. Good movie, but they watered down the plot compared to the original, which i was bummed about.

I want to see this.
Also, I prefer the old style special effects and how they made the monsters, only issue is how it is all super-imposed on the film. CGI doesn't actually look more realistic, just more slick.

They were groundbreaking at the time.
For a B movie maybe the remake looks a lot better I though the orginal was cheesy even shortly after it's release so i'd say this one will be at least somewhat an improvement.

I really have no urge to go see this film, and seeing the trailer, I feel even more "blah "towards it.

Jason and the Argonauts was always better. I'm suprised that didn't get remade first. It probably will depending on how this one does

No one should touch it. The 60's film is the only one we need.
Anyways, didnt they do a mini-series of that on TV awhile back, with the chick who plays T'Pol in Enterprise.

They shouldn't touch any of those movies. I don't think it takes a genius to realize that the reason these films are remembered is purely because of the Ray Harryhausen effects. Nobody is really in it for the plot, characters, or theme of the movie. They loved seeing the incredibly cool looking claymation.

Saw it. Good action and visuals. Enjoyed myself so it was a win.

Did they ever make a sequel to the original? Because it sounds like this one might plan on one.
They didn't.
With a 60 million+ opening weekend, it's sounding like they might turn this into a trilogy.
I hope now that they realize that people will pay money to see this expensive fantasy CGI fest, they make sure to hire a writer or two that will actually develop a strong story for the next film or two.

I'm still trying to figure out Sam Worthington's appeal as a leading man. Aside from looking like he was a vat-grown hybrid of every videogame character from the last ten years.
Anyway, I was pretty underwhelmed by Clash of the Titans. I didn't give a shit about any of the characters because they were either totally interchangeable or just not likable, I couldn't enjoy any of the action scenes because they kept doing that goddamn shaky-camera thing that keeps you from telling what the hell is going on, and since it wasn't actually filmed in 3D the faux-3D effects added in were an eyesore.
The fight with Medusa was pretty sweet, though.

Also, why the fuck does Hades have to be the fucking Villain when they are making a Greek Mythology movie here lately?
Hades isn't a fucking villain. Nor should any fighter be afraid of going to the Underworld, also named Hades. At least 300 got that point right. ("Tonight we dine in Hell," is merely a western take on "Tonight we dine in Hades" which is what Leonidas allegedly said that fateful day.) Sure, his domain is undesirable in Judeo-Christian society, but it was a place everyone went in Greek Mythology.
Also, seriously, In the original I could at least decipher who was supposed to be playing who on Mount Olympus. The only other God who spoke besides Hades and Zeus was Apollo. I know that because he was mentioned by Zeus. I had no fucking clue who Hera was (who played a role in the original), who Poseidon was supposed to be (and wasn't the Kraken supposed to be Poseidon's creation in the original Clash of the Titans, despite being a Norse creature? I mean, he only comes from the sea, and Poseidon, you know, is the GOD of the Sea.), who Athena was supposed to be (she could have at least stood around with an owl on her wrist like in the original).
Bubo was just thrown in as a reference to the original flick. How they found that old prop is beyond me.
Beyond that, the new story was just thrown together. "The man going through great trials in his quest for revenge against the Gods" storyline is done much better in the God of War series , a bunch of fucking VIDEO GAMES.

Have zero interest. I will probably watch it on DVD or cable when it gets there. I have not heard good things about the story.
