View Full Version : Drew McIntyre's Accent

I mean, is it for real? He sounds like a constipated Popeye would had be been childhood friends with Scotty. I mean really. If the accent is real, his gravelly voice can't be. It just sounds manufactured. They're both too forced to be real.

i feel he has 'modified' his accent a bit so the americans can understand him, similar to william regal who in real life has a broad back country accent

I was thinking it was faked. It sounds too stereotypical.

I'm looking at video from Smackdown and I swear, I keep hearing a constipated pirate Popeye!

It does sound a bit weird, but it's probably more the way he speaks being slightly put on rather than his accent.

I love how Finlay doesn't have a first name anymore.

It's his acting voice along with his Ayrshire accent. I'm sure he does it to make himself sound more "Evil".

Like kareru said, he's doing what Regal does.

This is him talking normaly and not acting. It's from his local news when he first got a WWE Contract. His story is at 2:18 so just skip the news about the junkies and so on and you'll hear him talking normaly. Also, they get it wrong, I'm sure Rory McAllister was the first Scot ever to sign with the WWE, not Drew.

And the WWE in Kentucky? That's OVW, they really shoud have said "WWE's training ground in Kentucky". :-\

But anyway, here's the video.

Way to downplay our reputation as a nation of junkies Cool King. :'(

McAllister had lived in Canada for years before he signed with WWE anyway.

That's more like it. I figured he was exaggerating his voice in some regard.

There are times when Sheamus's voice sounds exaggerating slightly as well, but it could just be my unfamiliarity with Scottish and Irish voices.

I figure he dose have a little bit of an accent, it still sounds better than when he was in FCW (in FCW it sounded like he had just been chewing on rocks and salted barb wire)

Have to admit there are times where he almost sounds like he could use some cough drops.

Schlomey

He talks like Scott Stapp sings.

Personally I am waiting for the time he gets a tickle in his throat and totally loses it in a coughing fit trying to sound so gruff. Should be good. Sadly SD is taped or it would be a funny live mess.

I think if he gets to speak like he normally does and becomes a face, a certain demographic, will be falling for him.

I can't stand Scottish or Irish accents, so I'm particularly annoyed at Drew and Sheamus's pushes.

That has to be one of the worst reasons to be annoyed at someones push. :wtf:
