Great 3-Disc set, picked it up on release day. 27 matches, tons of promos. The match collection starts in the earliest part of his career and works its way through. The earliest match is from 1979, tons of old matches included. Out of 3 discs, the first 2 only get through 1991. The last one is matches from his WCW/nWo days and his run again in WWE.

Notable Matches:

vs. Ric Flair from MSG (house show/local tv match)
vs. Andre the Giant - 1980
vs. Bob Backlund - 1980 (WWF Title Match)
vs. Macho Man - 1986
vs. Ravishing Rick Rude (House show, January 1988)
vs. Macho Man - 1989 (house show, rematch after Wrestlemania 5)
vs. Big Van Vader (WCW Title - Bash at the Beach '95)
vs. The Giant (nWo Souled Out)
vs. Bret Hart (Monday Nitro - Bret turns heel and joins nWo)
vs. Triple H (Smackdown)

Notable promos:

Backstage promo a few days before Wrestlemania 6 against Ultimate Warrior
The Snake Pit in the week prior to Wrestlemania 3

I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who is a collector and likes the older footage, or to anyone who is a Hogan fan.

*** Also for collectors, WWEShop.com has a special right now on a 3 DVD Title Set...... The Best of the WWE Championship 3 disc, The Best of the Intercontinental Championship 3 disc, and the soon to be released, Best of The World Heavyweight Championship DVD set, all three sets for only $34.99, thats an awesome deal.

I know the History of The World Heavyweight Championship will have a full documentary included as well as footage from the early 1900's with Frank Gotch. Should be the best one yet.

Does hogan actually try in those rare matches(ala his work in new japan)?

If so, I will get this, as he is actually really solid when he puts the work in.

Oh man, he works his ass off in alot of those early matches, The one with Andre the Giant from 1980 was really physical and pretty fast paced. Andre could really moved pretty good back then. That match is called by JR and The King, there are several with them commentating the matches.

Alot of the early ones are house shows never before seen and he has some great ones, alot of MSG matches. Buy it, if you like Hogan, its really worth it.
