Once again. On ability alone: Rob Van Damn. As a total package: Foley for sure.

Not very many I'll put above Foley.

Damn, Foley's not gettin' much of a shot here.

I'm still voting for him, but it's darn close.

Seeing that he is by far the better in ring performer, he is the only man in history to hold both the ECW and WWe titles simultaneously, and that he was one of the most over wrestlers in the history of wrestling when he was in the original ECW......

Rob Van Dam, easily.

I have to give this one to the whole F'n Show, sorry Mick but i have to go with RVD on this one on pure in ring ability.

what would you rather be, one of the most over wrestlers in front of a couple thousand fans or one of the most over wrestlers in front of millions of fans world wide? I'll give you RVD was over in WWE though, so I am not sure why you mentioned his ECW time. But again, Foley was main eventing near record setting cards in terms of ratings, PPV buys, crowds etc... and RVD was not

When you say "ring preformer" what are you talking about? I don't understand what you consider ring preformance?

and seriously, stop bringing up titles. Like Lance Storm said once when he heard Bubba Ray and Booker T arguing over who was the better team becase of titles won. "Guys, it's fake. You didn't really win them in real life"

RVD cut good promos for ECW... Not really good writing for him in WWE... But overall Ring ability again goes to the whole F'in Show... No contest...

Foley's promos are classics though... Vote... RVD...

RVD has entertained me over the years, but nothing he's ever done has matched the levels of what Foley has.

I admit to not seeing much of RVD's old ECW stuff, but with what I have seen, and his time in the WWE... I rank him as one of the most overrated people ever. Just not that good.

Foley easily gets my vote.

Foley for me but Van Dam was always a popular wrestler so I'm not surprised he has so many votes.

Tough choice since I really like both wrestlers. Going to go with Foley but in a close decision. Both were able to really entertain crowds regardless of the quality of their opponent. RVD and Sabu was as entertaining as a tag team as the Rock and Foley was.

Had Vince listened to the fans and pushed RVD when he was hot in the Invasion year and had RVD not decided to favor pot over a comfortable job, he wouldn't have come off as wasted potential in the WWE.

Well, Foley is no, NO, compitition in the wrestling department for Van Dam. Van Dam, quit simply, can work a better match. Not only that, he can out hardcore him. I'd take an RVD hardcore match over Foley's 9 out of 10 times.

Now Foley does however blow RVD out of the water in the mic department. And he edges out Van Dam (though not by a whole lot) by being able to connect to the audience the way he does. Foley can make you feel like you know him, but only through his promos...so it's hard to count that as two sepperate things givin he cant do one without doing the other.

All that said, you put RVD on the same card with Foley, both in thier primes, and RVD would work harder, get more over, and deliver at a consistantly higher level because Van Dam does what Foley has been able to do: work hard.

IMO.

When you say "ring preformer" what are you talking about? I don't understand what you consider ring preformance?"I'd rather be loved by 100 people than liked by a 1,000,000." -Joss Whedon

Not saying Foley wasn't/isn't loved mind you. Just saying. You see this arguement all the time used against Indy wrestlers, but it's bogus. You can't hold it against the guy that he doesn't work for Vince. He can't control that and that fact is the only thing keeping him from working in front of said numbers. That comes to down to luck mostly, right place, right time, right opportunity.

Unless of course you're implying that all the good talent finds it's way to the Fed which is crazy talk. I mean hell if thats the case, explain all the shitty wrestlers on Vinces card. lol. Fact is some of the most talented wrestlers in the world don't make it all the way and for whatever reason tons of shitty ones do. Kissed enough ass (or in most cases sucked enough dick [and no I dont just mean the divas.]) It has VERY little to do with talent and WAY more to do with connections.

But this argument is even more useless against RVD seeing as the fed and WCW offered him contracts on numerous occasions and he turned them down because he beleived in ECW. And had they had better financial care I still beleive it would have the best move for him both artistically and proffesionally. Not saying his bank account would look the same, but Im sure he would have been MUCH more happy being LOVED by the always growing number of ECW than liked (and sometimes loved) by the masses WWF offerd as he had been all the way up until they folded...and he'd still be better than Foley :p

I finally get on and there's no one here to argue with me...:(

Loose Cannon
11-24-2009, 09:59 AM
I can't argue with that. You're an Indy wrestler. there's no way I could ever change your stance. My view on what a "talented wrestler" is is probabaly 180 from yours. When we do these things, I take workrate into the equation, but to me, I don't weigh a lot on it. I know you do because it's your craft and I respect that. we just have two completely different ways of looking at this.

interesting fact that Van Dam holds a Guiness Book World Record for having invented this aerial leg lift and for having the most weight free standing on a dumbbell with no vertical support.

RVD left when he still was amazing. Mick Foley is still wrestling despite being horrible. If Foley would have left 3 years ago and not come back (Despite the rare appearance) he would have received my vote.

I have a great deal of respect for both wrestlers and they seem very evenly matched on paper. If I had to choose the better wrestler, my pick would be Rob Van Dam because his style is so unique and you just never knew what to expect from him.
