View Full Version : Who needs a DVD?

Outside of the obvious response: Chris Jericho...

I think Show could use a DVD. He's been around for well over a decade and has almost always been near the top of the card. Can't believe he hasn't gotten one yet.

So who else needs a DVD?

Also, a multi DVD set of the life and career of Andre the Giant containing a full documentary, and many matches. Very surprised they haven't done one on the 1st WWE Hall of Famer.

Wouldn't mind seeing a DVD set on Bobby "The Brain" Heenan either.

While Heenan has been very instrumental in landscaping the professional wrestling industry, i'm just not sure if WWE could fit enough into making a full length bio documentary and extras to consider a DVD for Heenan alone...might make WWE look like they are just pandering us with filler material. I think today's generation of fans may not know enough about or have the appreciation for the work and contributions from back in the day that Heenan has made.

I think if they did a collaboration DVD on history of Manager in Wrestling, that is where a good spot could be done on Heenan.

WWE has done a DVD called The Greatest Managers, which covered all the great managers from many differnet wrestling companies. The DVD ends with Vince McMahon saying "Bobby Heenan had it all, in my book, the greatest of all time."

shows how much I pay attention to WWE's DVD and Video library. Must have not been a good seller. I never saw it in our local Wal-Mart. Where I live we don't have Barnes and Nobles, Best Buys, or any other big name corporate retail chain place where we can by wrestling DVD's. I get what Wal-Mart puts on the shelf and whatever I can get off the net without paying an ass arm and a leg for International Shipping.

A Heenan DVD set would be awesome, he is my all time favorite manager by far as has a long career to cover. I would like to see more matches from him back when he was a wrestler like in his AWA days, plus he was a great manager in AWA long before he got to WWE. I think a documentary covering his life, his wrestling career, his managing career, his broadcasting career, fun times on the road, time in WCW, funny moments, health issues and all of that would make for a compelling story.

WWE.com is a great place to get the DVD's online. If you can wait a bit, alot of the times they get real cheap like 8 to 13 bucks and shipping is not that bad usually.

I think WWE should do a DVD on the "Greatest Undercard Wrestlers" of all time. Showcasing the guys in the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's who had that company calibur attitude and blue collar work ethic, but never made it to the top or held the big one in any of the companies. I think they should make selections from the JCP's NWA in the 80's, WWF Obviously, and WCW. That would be a great DVD in my opinion and I would watch it.

WWE could make huge dollars by offering customized DVD's like Wal-Mart does with music.

Imagine going online and choosing favorite matches/promos from whatever PPV or RAW or Smackdown and then they make a DVD for you and send it to you. Would be really good if they had that.

will NEVER happen. Vince already said along time ago that due to the circumstances and surroundings of Owen's death, they would never make a DVD or Video about him. They don't want to be seen as profiteering off a dead man's legacy and besides, i think it would piss Bret off and be seen as a sign of disrespect to the Hart Family.

Probably a bit hard to do since most of the picture would contain blurry WWF logos but I wouldn't mind something a DVD set called "The Attitude Era - RAW/Nitro".

It would be a series of DVDs where each DVD contains the best Raw and Nitro show of a given year (1997/1998 to 2001). It would also be a whole show minus the commercials so nothing of importance is cut off.

The WWE dedicating DVD sets to Andre the Giant and Big Show would both be cash cows, in my opinion. Andre is an icon of the industry, and Big Show is deceptively well known. He's got a long time in the business, and some great matches. Bringing out the DVD could also refresh him in some people's minds.

CM Punk has been in the WWE for three years now, but has had some great moments and already has a pretty storied career so far. A CM Punk DVD, covering his debut in ECW to where he is now, could be an interesting set.

Christian has had some classic matches and moments, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a guy more consistent than him currently. I know that I would actually buy that DVD. Shelton Benjamin is a random one I'd suggest. He's had a seven-year WWE career, where he has never been a jobber and has often been on the cusp of main eventing. If they put the ECW Title on him, I think it would be a great time to start thinking about putting some of his best showings on a DVD.

There's already an Andre the Giant dvd.... Albeit a more up to date one would be nice.
Just have other wrestlers talk about him, and have someone with a light french accent do the voice over for a documentary.

I can't see the WWE doing it, but I would definitely snatch up a William Regal DVD set. The documentary would be fascinating, especially if they go deep into Regal's background, and even touch on things like him kicking the crap out of Goldberg and being booted from WCW for hurting "the golden boy." They'd have to kayfabe that element up, though. JBL could recite stories about how Regal held him against a wall on his first day there (can't remember where I remember hearing that). Triple H could talk about the impact William Regal had on his career, and all that. You could even do a chapter on some of the men Regal has trained, continuing on his legacy.

The matches would also be fantastic. He's got an unusual style, but Regal's matches are so full of nuance -- I would love to see an alternate commentary track with Matt Striker pointing out everything he can about what Regal is up to in the match. I've long been waiting for a main event push for Regal, and it was coming last year, until Regal fucked it up. A DVD like this could go a long way to giving Regal that "respected veteran" quality that often alludes him, just because he doesn't win as much as he could, and because he is so great at playing a villain.

I would actually be cool with a Best of the Women's Division DVD, focusing on the early years then the Attitude/Early WWE era. As long as they'd make it actually about the wrestling, which I doubt.
