How come you people say he doesn't have one?
granted he isnt that great in the ring, but he DOES have a moveset:

Tilt A Whirl Powerslam, Pumphandle Suplex, Body Press Drop, Body Press to Front Slam, Body Press to Spinebuster, One Arm Powerbomb (he didnt do it in wwe), wicked Neckbreaker thingy, Double Arm Suplex, Rolling Leg Lock, Armbar

He also had many kicking variations

Of course along with the spear and the jackhammer

And he had a combo which took out 2 people
he body press dropped orton and ran to the other side of the ring where batista was reeling and speared him.

Now he DOES have a moveset

Fine...he has a moveset.

Are we still allowed to say he's sloppy, he can't (or more likely WON'T) sell, and that any of his matches that go longer than 5 minutes look like complete train wrecks. [to be fair, his match with DDP on PPV was pretty decent and I hear his match with Sting were entertaining, but I never saw those..still a small percentage considering he's been in the main event petty much his entire career.] And that's just his wrestling. It doesn't even touch his promos, his attitude, his ego, etc...

If you're a fan of Goldberg, that's fine But defending him by showing us his list of moves is like defending Scott Peterson by saying "he loves his dog."

Maybe it's true, but he's still a piece of crap.

Nah, add a beatdown on him and some clotheslines

That is a very limited moveset. How many different moves does a Kurt Angle or a Chris Jericho or a Chris Benoit have? Hell, how many moves did Bret Hart have?

These guys are all top workers and can put on hour long matches with several moves. Haven't you ever wondered why Goldberg rarely goes over the 15 minute mark?

Lamuella
04-09-2004, 04:46 PM
1) that's a tiny moveset
2) the moves you can do is not the issue. It's how you tie them together into a match. If you can't tie them together well, it becomes a spotfest. If you don't have enough moves to begin with, it becomes an unimaginative brawl.
3) as well as the moves he can do and how he can tie them together, how many moves can he TAKE well? How does he look when he's being suplexed? Can he take a bulldog and a neckbreaker well? How does he sell?

I never wondered why he never had a long match. When its over im just so relieved that someone else is gonna wrestle.

One Arm Powerbomb (he didnt do it in wwe)

I don't remember this one.

Neither do I. Sounds incredibly sloppy/dangerous.

It's probably some move that he doesn't know the name of.

Eric Bishoff's plan for Goldberg was simple, Go to the ring, breathe 'fire', spit a few times, Spear, Jackhammer, pin, leave, all in seven minutes.

It's true, watch the Monday Night War DVD

Sephiroth
04-09-2004, 06:22 PM
But did you read the interview, they don't want him to use the Jackhammer anymore, so that means he will only do the Spear and then he will go for the pin. :shifty: ( **** if that will happen, i will go out and kill Goldberg myself)

Hes just a personality really, not a "wrestler", he is his gimmick and his move list is basically all big power moves. It just seems like he runs his course pretty quickly, explodes in, moves along, gains momentum, gets to the main event, takes the title, dominates it up for a reign, drops the title, then theres not much for him. Only reason he may be back is because theres one thing that was anticipated for him that didn't happen, an angle with Austin.

Those are all variations of the same move, a basic slam.

He also had many kicking variations

Who can't do a kick (well, besides Zach Gowan)?

Of course along with the spear and the jackhammer

That's a given.

That's not a separate move. Just a combination of two completely different moves.

Goldberg doesn't have a real moveset. But he's one of those guys where you can get into his matches based on his energy and intensity. That's how all the Rock's matches are so great to watch.

Yes, that's four more than Stinko Malenko, which is pretty impressive.

Haha, the man of 1004 holds. Anyone see the list of Malenkos holds on Jerichos site?, every other one was armbar.

Stinko Malenko, the radical jackass of 1000 holds.

So he has like 10 moves instead of 2.

That's still not a big moveset, and the worst part is that he doesn't use those moves very frequently. He's mostly punch, punch, SPEAR! Jackhamer-to pin.

Ya, its a rare thing if he does a press into a powerslam or something, and that one arm powerbomb was never used in WWE. Everything else is a variaton.
His movelist is not a movelist, hes basically a character who pretty much has no purpose or flexibilty if hes not champion or dominating on his way to being so. That probably explains why he always wants to be champion and never sell, because thats the only way hes a star.

Pretty much so.

Of course, it'd be better if he had some personality.

I mean, if he was entertaining, it'd be one thing.

Problem is, he's sloppy and limited in the ring. He's handicapped on the mic. And I think it goes without saying that he doesn't come off as a very dominant badass.

Don't forget choking you and forcing you into the corner while yelling, "BUH! BUH!"

Fryza

Oh, oh, he has a HUGE movelist. For example:

-He can get beat up backstage several times by Jericho.
-He can end Bret Hart's career more or less.
-He can slip during his entrance.
-He can slip while climbing the top rope.
-He can botch moves.
-See above.

See?

Not to mention he can BEND OVER while waiting for an opponent to stand up for the spear...

I mean, say what you want about Goldberg's moveset, but that's the height of athleticism...

What's kind of sad is that this guy is probably a Goldberg fan and he was making this topic as a way to defend the one thing about one of his favorite wrestlers he could think of defending, and 20+ posts later....

Man, it got ugly in here fast. I haven't seen a beating this bad since Big Pussy got off'd on Sopranos.

Hey my point was not to generalize goldberg having 2 moves
I'm a goldberg mark but that's it
I still hate him for sidelining bret
Bret's my favorite of ALL TIME

The problem is, his moves are nothing special. You mentioned his punches and kicks, even Al Wilson and Katie Vick can do those.

You mentioned his slams and powerbombs. Test's slams are MUCH better than Bill's, and I've seen Kane, 'Taker, Nash, Hall, and so many other big men use powerbombs before. Hell, even Jericho had a double-powerbomb as a "finisher" for awhile.

The point is, Goldberg has two, three moves tops, that really define his movelist. I'm not going to fault you for being a Goldberg mark. I mark out when he does good Spears and Jackhammers too. But I know better. He generally seems to have an inflated ego, bad attitude, and low work-rate.

KaliKot
04-10-2004, 01:39 PM
Yeah so be it. But Nash's powerbomb still sux
I hope jericho goes back to the double powerbomb
he used to connect it to the walls and I found it very cool.
Dammit he should stop using the fake liontamer
