whatever wwe does it will outdraw TNA . WWE could put on a 2 hour cena match and it would outdraw TNA.

Bret making a guest appearance on RAW would completely blow away Hogan/TNA in terms of ratings in my opinion.

Does nobody else think this ship has sailed? It's been almost 13 years, and I think that its too late for this move to constitute any sort of real draw.

No.
WWE has fans that were not around for Bret Hart and the Montreal Screw Job sure, however the majority of WWE fans know about this incident. It doesn't matter the fan could be 12 years old, and the probability of them hearings about the montreal screwjob is greater than 70 percent I would say. So with that said, the reaction at any arena in the US or Canada would go off the hook for a Bret Hart return, especially in the classically stronger WWE territories. On top of that, add in TV, anyone who reads about wrestling online would tune in alone, imagine all of those who no longer watch but are atticted to reading about the superstars they used to enjoy every week. There are tons. I think if WWE got Bret Hart for Raw on January 4th they would at the highest reach a 4.5 but at least 4.0. I also think this would increase TNA's viewership to at least 2.5.
You have to include all of the details. Imagine you are a fan who hasn't watched since 2003, because WCW was dead and WWE blew. But your friend who still watches says, "Hey man! You gotta watch Monday night TNA is going to have Hogan and WWE is going to have Bret Hart!". There are so many possiblities for both companies if they book this night right, but more importantly promote it right.

Thanks to DVR and the internet, the entire concept of a ratings war will have changed if it ever happens again. That would be good news for TNA if they could get their shit together. People would watch WWE and then flip through the recorded TNA broadcast to see if there was anything worth watching. Eventually if they find things boring enough on WWE and exciting enough on TNA they could switch what they watch live and what they watch recorded. This is how TNA needs to compete for business. When it comes time to order a PPV, you want to be the favorite company in that scenario (though TNA might be able to compete if they offer cheaper PPVs and their shows were just good).

Agreed!
I am interested to see what Hogan has in store, however, if Bret does guest host Raw that same night, it will blow away Hogan due to the fact that we have not seen Bret on Raw in 12 years. We have seen Hogan much more recently, and Bret appearing is a much bigger deal and a more important moment.
I haven't watched Raw since around 2004 or '05, but the prospect of what Hogan may bring to TNA, or Bret on Raw will have me tuning in.
I've never really liked "FTW", but.....old established characters FTW!. :shifty:

Jim the Anvil Neidhart hosting Raw would destroy TNA in ratings let alone Bret.

i think bret as guest host will be a waste of an opportunity.
Face it, fans want to see bret return and fuck shawn michaels up. A program with bret, shawn and vince culimating at mania would be awesome.

WWE could show Jimmy Wang Yang, Jamie Noble, The Swog, my kitten, and another no name nobody do a circle jerk with around John Cena and they'll outdraw TNA if they showed how to turn shit into gold bircks.

You might be right. But if that happened for 5-6 weeks straight (and TNA was on Monday nights), maybe a little more, AND TNA was on its top game, I guarantee you TNA would take over the ratings war in 4-8 months.

Just to reiterate you are talking Kurt Angle, Sting, Jarrett, Lashley, Styles, Joe, Steiner, Nash, Foley, and the Knockouts (the highest rated on impact). Against Cena, Triple H, HBK, Miz, Kofi, Orton, Diabiase, Rhodes..... yeah right

lol TNA will NEVER beat the WWE. The WWE attracts the casual wrestling fan. Casual wrestling fans have probably never even heard of TNA. TNA will be lucky to draw above a 1.0 rating against Raw.

anything involving Bret Hart & WWE would outdraw TNA solely in Canadian viewership, not even using the numbers of USA/UK/Australia/etc.

You are probably right about TNA not drawing high against Raw, it is likely. However, eventually TNA will beat WWE in the ratings if they go head to head. WCW eventually did and TNA is a lot better than WCW. Just give it time and I am going to repost this message in a thread when TNA beats WWE in the ratings for the first time in two or three years.

yep i love the dvr an the funny thing is when you dvr that counts as raitings, tivo counts what you record an gives it to the nelsons. what would be funny if both shows get the same raitings.

Hart would win I think.
Yeah..it might have been a long time but so many kids know who the Hitman is. My cousin's son who is like 11 and all his friends know who Bret is just from playing video games and looking him up on Youtube. It will be interesting to see what they pull off..
