View Full Version : The Jack Swagger "I won't lose until the end of the year" angle...
It seemed to just be abruptly cut. While the rumors are there that the higher ups are down on him (and him jobbing on SuperStars may be an indication) but I was thinking that the main reason for this was the Cena "I WON'T LOSE" angle. It's basically the same thing, and maybe they didn't want two winning streak angles going on at the same time on RAW.
Thoughts?

It seemed like Swagger was just getting started for a minute there. It didn't seem like there would have been any reason to start that angle unless you were going to have it end in a big manner.
But you can't have two winning streak angles. I would guess they didn't have anything planned for Cena so they just stole the Swagger angle.

I'm not sure, but Swagger's undefeated streak could have went on a bit longer. It would have really helped out Swagger if his "undefeated streak" was ended by Cena in a Tables Match at TLC to really make Swagger look like a main event player. And then I would have probably started the Cena/Sheamus program for the Rumble.
I was actually excited to see how Swagger's storyline would turn out, and even after he lost fairly quickly, he was still putting on entertaining skits/matches with Miz and Eve that I was enjoying.
I'm not sure who he pissed off, but IMO he's one of, if not the best young talent that they've got (and Morrison IMO). Hopefully they start booking him a bit better pretty soon.
That would indicate long term booking. Can we give WWE enough credit for that?

They probably didn't have the Cena "I WON'T LOSE" angle thought out that far back.
Originally I thought it was done to bring another level to his mini-rivalry with The Miz. Now I just think it is because the reports are right, and they are "giving up" on him for the moment.

Beg to differ. If they booked it right, Swagger and Cena each could've had undefeated streaks that were built up only to end in a big payoff against one another.
Cena could tear through the main event card while Swagger runs through the mid card and the usual jobbers. Swagger could even pick up some extra wins by pulling double duty on Raw and SmackDown.
Eventually, Swagger couod get elevated and be put over some credible upper mid card talent, and maybe a win over a main eventer. The payof would be the acknowledgement of both men's impressive string of consequitive wins, and the fact that they had not faced each other while building their momentum.

Just FTR, in case anyone had forgotten, this program hasn't been going on since Swagger lost on November 9th to Evan Bourne on RAW to end his vow.

I think so.
Same goes for Swagger's short lived angle involving Eve. For about two weeks, he seemed to be after Eve, then that suddenly stopped and now, we have Chris Masters starting an angle with Eve.
I think the WWE have given up on Swagger though, which is stupid in my opinion as Swagger is just plain awesome and quite the talent. I hate the way the WWE have the bad habit of wasting away talented guys like Carlito, Swagger and Ziggler. I'm also going to add Bourne to that list as he seems to be doing nothing of great importance lately.
They did give those guys a chance, to be fair, but it didn't last that long and the WWE just suddenly dropped them all like a wet sack of shit. :-\

Im stealing this from wrestlecrap since I saw it on their boards, but they basically described it right. The WWE writing team must be ADHD. This happens way too often. Someone will get a big push, then just halted for no reason. Then it will happen again to someone else.
And I much rather wish that Swagger was in Sheamus' position right now.

I've got to agree with Lock Jaw, actually. It's making me think that the rumours about a loss of interest in Swagger may be true. That is a shame, because he is quite the young talent. And I also agree with Mr. Pierre, in that Swagger would have seemed like a more natural fit to unseat John Cena at TLC and become WWE Champion.
Now Swagger seems to be getting involved in ECW again. I'm actually for that, since RAW's got no clue what to do with him. I'm actually hoping that Swagger wins this "ECW Homecoming" angle, and then defeats Christian for the ECW Title at the Royal Rumble, which frees Christian up for other stuff. I'd love to see Swagger feud with Shelton Benjamin.

Swagger is just like Sheamus a talent pushed way to early only to be trapped in midcard hell I don't care how buddy buddy he is with Trips. It's no secret that I'm not exactly keen on the guy but he comes across as a Lesnar/Angle hybrid and it just doesn't work for me. I'd almost would like to see him team up with another big dude and they can have a nice little tag team run and go from there.

If they put Swagger in a tag team with anyone, I still think it could be Dolph Ziggler. Especially given how both men are a little lost right now. Give them a cocky, college-jock attitude. Their finishing move could be a combination between Swagger's Gutwrench Powerbomb and Ziggler's Zigzag.
