View Full Version : He Dreams of Future Endeavors...
From PWInsider:
PWInsider.com has heard from numerous WWE sources that the last standing ECW Original, Tommy Dreamer, is apparently departing World Wrestling Entertainment.
The word began making its way among the talent at last night's Smackdown/ECW taping that Dreamer (who had just signed a new deal this past summer) has requested a release from the company.
Dreamer, who has been with the company since July 2001 working a number of different responsibilities at times beyond wrestling, did work last night's ECW taping, facing Zack Ryder.
We are working to confirm the story, but have heard it from enough sources that we wanted to make note of it.

Was only a matter of time really. He was prepared to leave in the summer before they gave him that ECW title run.
Plus with the ECW brand likely dying soon next year, I couldn't see him even wanting to stick around.

I hope he's doing what'll make him happiest. I've never been a fan of his but he's apparently a great guy, so best of luck to him.
Incidentally, I thought this thread was going to be "Goldust gets released for the dozenth time."
You know, "Shattered Dreams" and all.
I thought this thread was about Goldust.

Can't say I care about this. Nothing against Tommy, but it's probably time for him to be done anyway.

The only way this would be remotely acceptable is if he shows up with Paul E. and RVD. I would kind of mark out a little if we saw a stand off between those 3, Hogan/Nash/Bischoff.
Bischoff: "We got 3 words for ya TNA...."
Nash & Hogan: "We're taking over!"
(Lights go out)
(Sound of a massive bong rip)
RVD: "No way dude...
(Lights go on)
Heyman & Dreamer: ....WE'RE TAKING OVER!"
Taz (takes off his head set): Not again, Fuck this.
Tenay: "WAIT, THERE'S EVEN MORE GOING ON BACK STAGE!"
(Jeff Jarrett runs into the TNA office with a gun, murders Dixie, Russo & Foley, then puts Socko in the Crippler Crossface and shoots himself in the head).
Yeah, I know....
Never mind, I'll just agree with A Thrilla.

Wow, so he's really going to give up 4+ years of his contract he just got last summer when he won the ECW Championship? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, for a guy who's been in the business nearly 20 years. Maybe he just doesn't want to think about how WWE is killing off their own version of ECW, and wants to focus on other things in his life.
Either way, we'll miss ya, Tommy.

Best of luck for Dreamer in the future. Guy was great to watch, but never really did anything worthwhile in WWE except for the Invasion angle and his ECW title run.

I actually have quite enjoyed Tommy Dreamer. He seems like a nice guy, has a likeable presence, and is a deceptively good worker. I wouldn't mind seeing him become a trainer, or being brought in for special appearances.
Part of me wishes we had seen a heel Tommy Dreamer, though. I liked to envision him picking up a kendo stick, and interfering in random matches, claiming that he was going to bring the violence back to ECW. Basically an "obsessed with the past" Tommy Dreamer.

No big deal he stayed way too long most of the old ECW guys have been released a long time ago so he overstayed his time. Like I am cool with him and all but he just dont bring nothing to the table and beside, the new ECW is build around young athletic guys not fat beer brawlers.

Billy, Have you ever went to the Circus? If so, was it a 1 ring or a 3 ring?
There's a reason why I ask.

You need some older guys to give the rub, though.
