Didn't see a thread on this, but apparently Williams lost his years-long battle with cancer last night. :(

Goddamn it. He had just joined the NWA back in 1987 when I was born and I always loved to watch him. Him and Terry Gordy made a great team. RIP. The Doctor is making housecalls in Heaven now.

RIP Doc. One of the toughest men ever to live.

Calling it now: He's giving Misawa a Doctorbomb as we speak.

This is a complete and total shame, and frankly extremely sad.

I have had a number of dealings with 'Doc' and he was a FIRST CLASS, genuine, down-to-Earth, gentleman, with a great sense of humor and a strong appreciation for his family and the fans. He was truly one a kind in this business, all too often filled with the exact opposites of him. Genuinely appreciative person, who just gave so much to everyone. I hope that that is remembered about him, as well as how much talent he had - which was a whole lot.

He was truly one of toughest guys in the business and was smooth in the ring. I have a ton of respect for his abilities and his level of competitiveness. A legitimate badass who had great matches and made it all look 1000% good. I happen to have dealt with Steve before and after his cancer problems. It was so nice seeing him after the first go round with this horrible disease - as weird as that is to say.

He had all but lost his voice, and was speaking in a whisper - but ALWAYS had a smile on his face and a laugh in his heart. NEVER took a moment for granted and enjoyed everyone and everything. That's what made it so good to see him. He was just like he was before all the hardships. A great person.

R.I.P. and Hope to See You Again One Day.

Also, if you guys go to WrestlingFigs.com you can see the article they have up about Doc's passing; there are his recent photos from his Dec. 12th appearance in NY - you can see just how different he looked from all he had to go through with this horrible thing.

I now checked if there's a WrestlingFags.com, but saddly there is not.

Never really saw much of his stuff outside of the JR angle and the Brawl For All but knew this was a guy that should be respected.

one of the best workers to come out of the mid 80's. He really shined in Crockett and in Japan. He wasn't the most colorful guy, but he kicked some ass in the ring and was crisp in everything he did. definately a big part in Crocket's success.

Never really saw him wrestle as much during his career besides a WWF match once in a while. At first I never really liked him as a wrestler but around a week ago when ESPN Classic had their old AWA/UWF shows, he showed up in a squash match and was amazed at how "brutal" he squashed another wrestler.

Normally a WWE or WCW squash is under 2 minutes but he dominated some random wrestler for a good 10 minutes with nothing but power and submission moves. One of those rare times where I felt satisfied watching a squash than normal mainly because of how good his opponent sold the moves and how dominating Dr Death made his moves.

Indeed.

Different style, but similar to Malenko in the fact that he wasn't colorful like you said, but excellent in the ring where it counts.

Well, this just sucks. There just had to be one more wrestler's death before the end of '09, and it just had to be Dr. Death.

R.I.P. "Dr. Death". You, like the others who've gone before you, will be missed.

R.I.P.

I came home from work and had a text from my mate asking 'Did Steve Austin die?'. I fucking shit myself (not literally). All the time waiting to computer to load up etc all I'm thinking is 'No fucking way, Steve Austin no way' etc.

Was relieved when I didn't find anything on wwe.com, but then came on here and read about Dr. Death.

It's sad, but I didn't see too much of the guy. Mostly his WCW run with Oklahoma as his manager.
