Do you like when songs just fade out in the end or do you rather the track finishes with a final note or rock out or whatever?
When songs fade out they make me feel like 'the adventure continues' and the song usually stays in my head afterward. But songs that end has the band ends it gives me a feeling of relief, especially if it's a good one.
Fucking talk already.

It depends what the song calls for. "Zero" by the Smashing Pumpkins ends on a really good final note. "Jump" by Van Halen ends with them just rocking out. I wouldn't change either.

"Decode" from Paramore should have had a fade out. And I can't imagine why "Fade to Black" fades out when the whole solo kicks ass.

fade outs are fucking lame. nobody should use them ever.

Fade outs are an admission to the tune of "we had no idea how to end this song".

That may be the case with The Police, but they have to stop sometime.

Fade outs make music videos have awkward endings.

what, it depends on the song. rhcp "sir psycho sexy" has one of my favorite fade outs i guess. the only thing would be you have to figure out how to end it/continue it into next song if you are going to play it live.

What I really just want to know is how does Guitar Hero/Rock Band/Band Hero/Lego Rock Band/DJ Hero approach this topic

They either reveal the end parts of the master track (GH: Met, "Fade to Black") or add endings if they're covers (or even sometimes master tracks). Really cool actually.

Depends on the song, but I prefer rock outs better than fade outs.
U2 New Years Day is probably the best fade out that I know. It fits the song perfectly....

It really depends for me.
Like when an album version fades out, it leaves a lot of possibility for a live version.
But you also can;t beat an awesome outro's final notes
