If you want to download one song/don't want to torrent

This is for anyone who wants to ever just download one song (torrents usually have full albums and shit) or can't use torrents because you are trying to download music at work. First disable the quicktime plugin.

Firefox:
Tools > Options > Downloads > Plug-ins, and click the tick beside the Quicktime plugin to disable it.

IE:
I don't know if anyone still uses this piece of shit, but it seems to work without disable quicktime. If it doesn't just go to tools > options and uninstall the plugin.

Google Chrome:
I don't think you can disable it, so you'd have to uninstall it or use IE or Firefox

Search for whatever song you want (there is a HUGE tonne of shit on there since it's like youtube but more for just audio)...

then when you find your song, in the addressbar change the "audio" part to "sr/f"

so... if you're sad and want to download Johnny Cash "Hurt" the link would be:

change that to http://lolkax3.wrzuta.pl/sr/f/4Kt0vI2jynz/johnny_cash_-_hurt

then hit enter and it saves as an MP3, no conversions needed!

Download uTorrent (utorrent.com) and use it. It is a default feature of the program. Every time you open a torrent file in it, it brings it up, asks where you want to save it, and what files you want (default is all boxes checked, so un-check what you dont want).

1) Download utorrent and install utorrent.
2) Download a .torrent file.
3) Double click the .torrent file. This should cause utorrent to bring up a screen that asks you which files you wish to download. You can select all, none, or go through and pick them out individually by clicking the check marks next to each file/folder name.
4) When the .torrent is done you can remove it from your utorrent program and delete it. This will stop your seeding. Some consider this to be a "dick" move.

That's the point, we all moved on from Vuze to a superior program, so nobody knows how to do it any more. In the time you've spent defending YOUR chosen torrent software, you could have downloaded and installed a program that asks you, up front, which files you want out of a torrent when you open one and isn't easily susceptible to java viruses (as far as I know). Like Req says, it's all free, and due to how small uTorrent is, you could probably download and install it in the time it takes to brew a pot of coffee. So why don't you just TRY it?

I can't even currently think of anything that I WANT to download. This isn't some huge 'waste of time' for me to post in this thread. There's nobody sitting here with a gun to my head demanding only 4 songs from Limp Bizkit or something. This situation was never dire. I was trying to figure out how to do something with the tools that I already have. Why is that such a problem?

You made it a problem by acting like you were incapable of downloading a program unless you had a gun to your head and were being forced to download only 4 songs from Limp Bizkit.

It took me about two seconds to type utorrent.com and hit enter. uTorrent's install file is 283KB and is available on the front page of their website. -KB-. It took literally less than a second for me to download. It takes less than 15 seconds to install depending how capable of clicking 'Next' you are.

And then your problem would have been solved, and you would have then been using a better program, which uses less system resources than Vuze, and which doesn't rely on a horrible Java platform to run on, which is part of the reason it is such a slow resource-hogging program.

You could have done the logical thing, which would be to take the advice of a group of people who are nerds, and know more about the subject than you, and downloaded a better, more user friendly alternative to the program you had an 'issue' with.

Why would you NOT take the advice to upgrade to a FREE, BETTER version of the program you want advice on, especially when the new program fixes the issue by default?

If you weren't a dickhead, you would say "Oh, ok thanks for the advice" and you would try it, because at the very least if you don't like it, it takes even less time to uninstall the program than it did to install it.

The easy thing here would have been for anyone to have told me how to download my selection of songs from a torrent as opposed to the whole thing in the program that I already had. If they didn't know, they could have either:

A) Said they didn't know

or

B) Posted nothing at all about the matter.

I like Vuze. It has never caused me a problem. The fact that I didn't know you could download single songs, coupled with the mere fact that I like Vuze were my only faults in this whole fiasco.

I got upset when people started calling me 'retarded' and whatnot simply for using the program that I use. I understand that it's easy to download another program. I simply didn't fucking want to. There were at least three people in this very thread who said that it could be done with the exact program that I already use, and that was ALL I was trying to figure out. Very simple logic going on here.
