From PWInsider:

World Wrestling Entertainment announced today they were releasing Eric Escobar (real name Eric Perez), who debuted on the Smackdown brand as Vickie Guerrero's latest boyfriend in September 2009.

Perez, who had worked the Puerto Rico wrestling scene for the WWC, had been used mostly in dark matches in recent weeks. After his character broke up with Guerrero, they spent several weeks where she placed him into bouts he couldn't possibly win as revenge.

good riddance. he was bland and boring. Glad to see they aren't keeping the young guys around just to have them there.

This one was pretty obvious. One of the quickest debuts and then subsequent push drops I've ever seen.

I don't think Escobar even debuted yet when it started...that's how short-lived his tenure was

I wasn't the biggest fan but they didn't really give him much of a chance!

The guy was Vickie Guerrero's biggest foe and he still couldn't get over with the crowd. He had no chance.

Its sad when a guy who isnt even puerto rican like Scott Hall can get over with a puerto rican gimmick but Escobar who actually is gets little to no reaction with virtually the same persona.

Sorry for nit picking here, but if you're talking about when Scott Hall was Razor Ramon, then his gimmick was that of a Cuban, not a Puerto Rican.

So you're upset that a Puerto Rican couldn't get over with a Cuban gimmick? :shifty:

Had a feeling he wouldn't last long even when he debuted and I wad surprised he lasted this long after the breakup. He was boring in the ring and didn't have much going for him.

Remember when he almost was in a PPV match at Bragging Rights? That was a close one.

I'm just happy that I don't have to hear anyone talk about being disgusted by Vickie's neglege, even though he had apparently been plowing her pretty willingly not long before.
