Someone else who loved Big Fan
I haven't watched many movies this year (well I have, just rented a bunch that were made prior to 09) so honestly the only movies I really liked were The Hangover and Big Fan. District 9 was pretty good too.
Hated Inglorious basterds and Bruno was shit compared to Borat.

Fignuts

Dunno. Didn't have a lot of time for the movie scene this year, so I missed a lot of the good but obscure stuff that makes up triple a's list.
From what I saw, I'd say
Watchmen
Chocolate
Observe and Report
Up
Taken
Star Trek
That's pretty much all I saw, besides I guess Transformers 2, the new harry potter, and GI JOE. But I wouldn't group those in the same class as the above mentioned flicks.

Movies I still want to see very soon:
Moon
A Serious Man
Whatever Works
The Men Who Stare At Goats
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Where The Wild Things Are
Adventureland
Fuckin horrible movies I saw in theaters:
Terminator 4, Transformers 2, Wolverine, Halloween 2
Everything else = meh
I was really bad about seeing a lot of movies I wanted to see this year. Probably because I couldn't get out much or do much movie watching for the second part of the year. Couldn't get my "arthouse" on.
Most of what I did get to see in theaters were the first half releases, or the summer blockbusters and comedies.
Really want to get around to seeing the ones I listed as they come out on dvd.

Didn't really see a lot of new movies this year, but my favorites were probably
Inglourious Basterds
Moon
A Serious Man
Fantastic Mr Fox
I Love You Man
Pretty good:
Star Trek
District 9
The Hangover
I think Moon was probably my favorite in retrospect. While the plot wasn't anything special, the way it all unfolded was brilliant

A so so quality screener of Bad Lieutenant is online, and I highly recommend anyone check it out. It's complete insanity. Nicholas Cage is ridiculously good in it. It's like he's been acting weird all his life for this.

Just watched Mary & Max, completely in love with it. Thanks AAA for recommendation there, some of the movies you've mentioned over these 9 or so years I've been here have become my favorites.
Right everyone loving Moon a bit too much really. Watched it and it just never gripped me properly.

I also really liked Antichrist. It's insane but it's a really interesting think piece.
I've got White Ribbon waiting on my computer for me to watch when I've finally caught up on Lost.

Can't wait for Life During Wartime. Todd Solondz is my fav <3333333 Was gonna see it at the NY Film Festival but it was playing during a Jets game, like 12 PM on a Sunday. Dumb

The 1992 Bad Lieutenant is better.
Zombieland. I like any zombie movie as long as it's not as bad as House of the Dead.
I Love You, Man. The most I laughed in a long while.

The 1992 Bad Lieutenant is better.
I've seen them both, and I'm going say that I like Herzog's better. It caters more to my taste for the bizarre and crazy. Port of Call is a fantastic celebration of evil, none of that Catholic guilt stuff.

I saw it, thought it was a huuuuge dissapointment, you'll probably like it more than me though, cause you're more into Solondz oeuvre(would never use this word in real life)

I thought it was really good, but I also didn't think it was anywhere near the top of the Pixar list.
That's something I've noticed. Every Pixar movie that comes out now is automatically considered the greatest thing ever. Pixar is an amazing company with an amazing track record, but it's now become the "in" thing to over-hype every movie.
Toy Story is still the best of them. The Incredibles runs a distant second, and Wall E comes in third. Toy Story 2 is up there too. That's my 2 cents.
Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Up, Ratatouille are all great. Still, I wouldn't class them with those other 4 I listed.
Somehow I never saw Cars or A Bugs Life. Should get around to that.
Can't wait for Toy Story 3

I thought the first half hour of Up was pretty amazing, but I don't like how Pixar has to load their films with a whole bunch of chase/action scenes, Wall E was the same way. Still good movies though.

Yeah exactly this.
I mean it is a kid's movie so that is OK but it was annoying because everyone was hyping it up so much for some reason so I thought it would be "different." Was just an average kid's movie other than the beginning which was really good.
