Jason Momoa, who plays the dreadlock-wearing Ronon Dex on Stargate Atlantis, is in negotiations to portray Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian in a new film that Marcus Nispel is directing for Nu Image/Millennium Films. The reboot of cinema’s number one barbarian franchise in which Conan avenges the death of his father and the slaughter of his tribesmen, will begin principal photography in Bulgaria in the middle of March.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producers of the Conan film had narrowed their choice to Momoa and Kellan Lutz of Twilight before settling on the six foot-four-inch half-Hawaiian, half Iowan actor, who will also be seen in HBO’s adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones.

Huh.....Rowen Dex as Conan eh? Could work. As long as he doesn't talk that much.

The young actor who portrayed the youthful Snake Eyes in flashback scenes in last summer’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra film is about to perform in a similar role in the new film charged with rebooting the Conan franchise. Leo Howard, who is just 12 years old, will play the young Conan in the new Lionsgate feature film that Marcus Nispel is directing (see “Conan to Start Filming”).

According to the Latino Review, Howard will have a meaty role in the new Conan film with his segment lasting about 15 minutes. The young Conan will see his father killed, which will provide the motivation for his actions during the rest of the movie. Jason Mamoa will portray the adult Conan (see “Conan Actor Chosen”) in the film that is now slated to start shooting in Bulgaria in March.

Rachel Nichols, who made a major impression as Scarlett in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, has reportedly been cast in the key role of Tamara in Millennium Films' reboot of the Conan franchise. If confirmed, Nichols will be the second G.I. Joe thespian to appear in Conan. Leo Howard, the juvenile actor who played the young Snake Eyes, is portraying the young Conan (see “Young Conan Chosen”).

According to the Latino Review, Tamara is beautiful young novitiate of a Greek monastery. She has been trained in the martial arts and serves as friend, bodyguard, and servant to the queen. She makes common cause with Conan to find the usurper Khalar Singh and falls in love with the mesomorphic hero along the way.

Rachel should be Red Sonja instead of Rose McGowan. Rose is hot but Rachel is that much hotter. And I think I'd rather hear Rachel's voice.

Stephen Lang, who played the tough as nails, nearly impossible to kill, marine-turned-mercenary Colonel Miles Quaritch in Avatar, will portray Khalar Singh, the villain in Millennium Films’ reboot of the Conan franchise, which is being directed by Marcus Nispel.

Lang confirmed his participation in the new Conan film when he was interviewed by MTV at the Academy Award show. Lang will join a cast that includes Jason Mamoa and Leo Howard as Conan (see “Young Conan Chosen”) and Rachel Nichols as Tamara (see “Rachel Nichols in Conan”).

Huge fan of the books and comics. Will probably go see it even though everyone has pretty much said it is awful.

Sure, why not.

EDIT: Whoops, only changed the post title, not the thread title.

Isn't Nu Image the company that makes those crappy Creature Feature movies?

Except Shark Attack 3. That film is amazing.
