Hey gang,

I am doing a music show this semester (first show by myself) and was wondering if I could get some input. As of now, the show is called The Lunchbox and will air from 12-1PM ET on Mondays. I will be playing current hits and songs that were big (and not so big) from the past decade (since the station format is 90s).

What I am looking for are ideas of songs to play and possibly a different title. If you could post links to mp3/wma (only formats the broadcaster recognizes) or youtube videos that would be tremendous, since I may be unfamiliar.

Also, I will be doing a segment called Cover Me (working title, suggestions welcome), during which I will play a song and a cover of it back to back. Ideas for those would also be appreciated.

Thanks! :y:

I am unfamiliar. Do you happen to have them?

For the Cover Me segment are you going to use songs where the cover was done in the 90's or the original was done in the 90's?

I can't find the mp3 version of them on youtube but you can download them from here

http://search.4shared.com/network/search.jsp?searchmode=2&searchName=joni+mitchell+woodstock

and here

http://search.4shared.com/network/search.jsp?sortType=1&sortOrder=1&sortmode=2&searchName=csny+woodstock&searchmode=2&searchName=csny+woodstock&searchDescription=&searchExtention=&sizeCriteria=atleast&sizevalue=10&start=0

Not exactly contemporary so apologies if that's what you're looking for, but a classic example of how cover versions can alter the semantics of a song.

The cover segment is going to be pretty wide open I think. Some ideas I have:

Hotel California - The Eagles/Reel Big Fish
Let's Go Crazy - Prince/Incubus
Boys of Summer - Don Henley/The Ataris
Don't Stop Believin' - Journey/Steel Panther

I do have more but those are definite. I am trying to stay within the last decade (2000-2009) with the show in general since the station format is 90s.

I actually did my first show today. It was a last minute decision, which is why I didn't post about it. I will edit and upload the show tomorrow (i.e. post the zshare link here) for those who would like to listen.

Thanks again for all the [serious] suggestions! :D

Here is my first show from Monday if anyone wants to hear it: http://www.zshare.net/audio/717429359002bbbb/

I had a few hiccups with the broadcaster, but I did not break anything so I would call it a success.

Haha I actually like new Pearl Jam better (though "better" may be a stretch, since I'm not a big fan of them in general).

The station decided to take a shit over the weekend (something I found out mid-show), so I won't be able to continue. I'll keep you posted.
