View Full Version : How would you do a "WWE Vintage" Night?
I got this idea from Nicky Fives.
I've always wanted WWE to do a "vintage" (insert Michael Cole joke) night where everyone on the card wears their old attire and re-adopts their old gimmicks of the past. For example, HBK can wear his heart tights, Kane can put on his mask, Hurricane could be Sugar Shane, etc..... I'd definately like to see it....
Would you like to see this? And how would you set this up? Interviews, matches, angles, etc. It'd sort of be like a One Night Stand for the WWE/F.
Only requirements are that you can only use wrestlers who are currently on the roster (and have been or were in the company five plus years ago) plus five former wrestlers not in TNA.
Specify the gimmick they would be portraying, of course. And assume the show is TV-14.

I approve of this idea. You'd no doubt have Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler doing commentary for the event. I'm too lazy to go into real detail, but I'd mark out for an Edge & Christian reunion and Chris Jericho going back to being the old Chris Jericho for a while. Or even if Jericho came out to his original titantron, with a wig on, a ring jacket, long tights, etc. Then he got to the ring, pulled it all off and told the "WWE Universe" that they are deluded if they thought they were going to get that Chris Jericho.

I miss Scotty 2 Hotty. I think it's a massive shame he never got to turn heel since he took on that persona.
HHH as Hunter Hurst Helmsley and that imperial march/whip?

You have 2 guys in the ring that nobody cares about. The lights go out and Kane comes out w/Paul Bearer and destroys those 2 guys and leaves.

Probably just everything that happened in 2000 mixed in with some mid-90s HBK, Bret Hart, Razor Ramon and stuff.
Goofy Kurt Angle is a must.
I would have Shawn Michaels walking in the back, opening of a normal episode of RAW. He's walking, a large object falls, knocking him unconscious. He is awoken by Triple H dressed like D'Artagnan and speaking in a bad french accent. Cue hijinks.

Like this idea though Triple H has a bit of an accent anyway it just sounds bad when hes trying to emphasize it
I would mark out like a 10yr old boy if he comes out and does that gay little curtsy he used to do

I would love to see it, however it would definitely come across as living in the past. Reminiscing about "the good old days" too much could be a major negative.

It's a nice concept, but it would be kinda gay to be honest. I mean Triple H coming out and curtsying? Kane wearing a mask, destroying people, and then jobbing again? I dunno... it'd just be kinda crappy and remind us how much better things were ten years ago.
Best bet is to just watch some PPV's from 2000 instead. :y:

Yeah, the idea has only got limited potential, in my opinion. May not work as well in practice as it may in theory. But I would have Triple H go back to his classic "Game" character of 2000, and not so much his pre-DX character. William Regal coming out to "Real Man's Man" is a must, though.

It could be a guest host - one that's an actual fan - have him come out at the start of the show and announce a Retro Night. Keep everybody in the same characters and stuff, but they'll all come out in their old tights and to their old themes. Doesn't need to break kayfabe, but maybe you could spin off some new storylines from it. I.e. Kane has a little too much fun in his mask and decides to keep it as he starts to unravel a little bit again. Meanwhile, HHH can further tease his heel turn by openly rebelling against going back to his blueblood gimmick. John Cena freestyles and reminds us why we liked him in the first place.

Kane as Isaac Yankem, DDS...
I say give Cena mono to get him down to his "before the juice size" and then put him in some blue tights and have him run out randomly...get in someone's face and say, to no crowd reaction, "I'm John Cena"

James Diesel presents Vintage Monday Night Raw is War
The card is as follows
The show begins with a great low budget vignette of the PPV from the night before. For fanatical purposes, let's just say it was WrestleMania
Chairman and commentator of WWE, Vince McMahon comes out to have us all welcome the new WWE Champion, who just 24 hours ago won the title from the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels.
Out comes 7'4 540lb Giant (Yes, WCW's Big Show lol). Assured in his dominance over the entire roster The Giant announces that he will face anyone from the back. Hell, he'll even face 2 men at once and will proceed to make them cry like Adam Sandler did when he called Captain Insano.
Opening Contest:
"The Bizarre One" Goldust vs. Lord Steven Regal
A solid match-up that sees Regal pulling out a victory with his Regal Stretch.
Backstage
European Title Match:
Christian vs. Edge
Before the match it is announced that the title will be contested in a ladder match and that Gangrel is banned from ringside, so Gangrel chooses to stay in his circle of fire.
Very impressive match that spans 2 commercial breaks. After a release Downward Spiral from the top of the ladder, Edge reaches up to grab the belt and win the match.
Backstage we see Lionheart making his way to the ring for the next contest.
#1 contendership for Intercontinental Championship:
Lionheart vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley
Great contest that evokes some good emotion until Helmsley catches Lionheart setting up for the Liontamer and counters with a pedigree for the win.
Tag Team Title Match:
NOD Members Rocky Maivia and Mark Henry vs. The Ringmaster and Isaac Yankem DDS
The match starts with Yankem and Henry continuing their heated feud into the back leaving Maivia and Ringmaster to fight alone for each other's team. Fantastic match that lasts a decent amount of time. The match is ended when Maivia attempts a Rock Bottom and Ringmaster ducks and catches Rocky in the Million Dollar Dream.
Now on to our Main Event:
The Giant makes his way to the ring with a massive smile that would span a small child's waist :shifty:
After a solid 60 seconds of waiting the familiar screech of a guitar signals Bret "The Hitman" Hart is making his way to the ring. As he goes to get in the ring, the cries of Sensational Sherry hits our ears and HBK is on stage. He reminds us that The Giant did not exclude anyone from his challenge. Although, Bret is not happy to hear any of this. Now, Michaels and Hart are in the ring arguing with each other, when Giant decides to come over. Hart strikes Giant with a low blow while HBK hits some good ol' Sweet Chin Music at the same time. The bell is signaled to start the match. Both men see their opportunity for victory as Bret locks in a sharpshooter and Michaels applies a Crossface. The Giant has no choice but to submit. Even though, the match was not for the title, the night is ended with Hart and Michaels staring each other down with one end of the title in each man's hand.
Could've been longer and even more detailed but I'm tired lol

I would do a Vintage night and like to see it as long as it doesn't include anything and everything to do with "Vintage" Michael Cole.
I'm a mark for the Ministry of Darkness. Bring that shit back. :D

As already mentioned, I'd mark like crazy to here Jericho's "countdown" theme.... or hearing "You think you know me" with the lights dipping down and having E&C come through the crowd..... Vintage Night could be very popular and a 1-night a year occurence if done properly..... Vince could even bring back some old faces to tag with someone currently on the roster (Marty Jannetty with Michaels, Lance Storm with William Regal or Jericho, etc.)

ECW did this one time for Halloween at a house show... Shane Douglas worked as Dean Douglas, Justin Credible worked as Aldo Montoya etc.
Would work best if they did it as a Guest Host gimmick (like the Vince/Jesse reunion a few months ago). Halloween is a good excuse too, to have them actually bust out the old gear for fancy dress. They would need to announce it a week in advance, or else we'll be expected to believe that every tenured wrestler in the company travels with gear they haven't worn for a decade. With the exception of Mick Foley, that's not believable.
